The 12 songs on the album don't necessarily jump out at the listener on the first listen. Instead, it's more of a slow seduction. Scialfa, who penned all the songs on the album, incorporates a '60s-style vibrato reminiscent of Ronnie Spector; however, the production is low-key compared to '60s girl singers produced by Phil Spector. There's not a bad song in the bunch, and the title track is a gem. Mr. Scialfa is a lucky man to have such a lovely and talented wife. ~ Tim Griggs

...Purring and shouting passionately about the trials and rewards of romance, Scialfa's sensual delivery makes this a perfect album for hip-grinding slow dance... - Rating: B+

3 1/2 Stars - Very Good - ...the emotional ambivalence and sexual candor of a mature woman....Scialfa's songs garner their charm, and strength, from a perspective that is distinctly feminine and from the insights engendered by her own rigorous introspection...

rumble doll cd by patti scialfa

    Created: 02/03/08
bought the patti scialfa cd, rumble doll, this was i think her first cd and i had wanted this for quite some time but could not find it in stores. it was for sale but at a higher price on a couple of web sites, so when i found it on ebay for the asking price, I was thrilled. received the cd and have been playing it over and over. it was brand new, not used in excellent condition. I am so happy not only to have the cd, which I love, but to get it at such a greaat price! Patti Scialfa (aka Mrs. Bruce Springsteen) has and amazing and unusual voice. the lyrics, which she also writes are so beautiful its like listening to poetry. there are 12 songs on the cd ,some soft and some which reminded me of almost a roy orbison type of sound. the background music is excellent. If you have never listend to patti scialfa before , I would recomend this as a starting point.

This is a 1993 production but it stands the test of time. I heard the last track, Spanish Dancer, on the radio one day and I fell in love with Patti's haunting voice. The remaining tracks do not disappoint. Highly recommended.

    Patti Rocks!

    Created: 10/11/06
This woman has infinately more talent than her famous other half, Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen! With an incredible voice that is both smooth and sultry yet raw and sexy, she delivers one knockout tune after another. This is my absolute favorite to put on for a romantic evening with a new date: dim the lights, torch a few candles, a bottle of vino and turn up the volume, then sit back and soak in the most fantastic vibes ever!

You don't need to like The Boss to love this. A definite slice of Americana, wavering, anxious and sublime. She's adorable on multiple levels.
