A tremendous failure

Robin Williams is one of the most brillant comic talents on the planet. Barry Sonnenfield is a good director with a few hits (Men In Black) and a few failures (Wild Wild West). However paired together in RV, this is a match made is cinematic hell
Williams can make a bad film (Father's Day, Popeye) better, he can scare you (one Hour Photo, Insomina) and can make a great film (Mrs Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam)into a comedy classic. Here he has so very little to do ...a few pieces of slapstick business and a lot of deadpanning for the camera, he could have phoned in this film role. And if you have a great comedy talent (like williams) doing NOTHING, the rest of the cast must be either coasting or overworking. ITS COASTING HERE!
I love the talents of Jeff Daniels, Cheryl Hines and Kristen Chenoweth, but in this vehicle they are wasted
Very little of RV is funny..sorry to say with the talent in front and behind the camera involved, you could have made a funny film..and all we get in MUD in our collected faces from the road

RV (Spectacularly hilarious)

This movie is a great family movie for all ages. My ratings on this family movie are Excellant.
Robin Williams plays an overworked Father trying to keep everything under control with his outrageous family. This movie is one I believe every faily can relate to in one way or another.
The Munro family was really looking forward to a vacation in Hawaii, when Dad Munro's boss says he must attend a meeting in Colorado or lose his job. So he drags his reluctant family on a RV road trip that will keep you laughing all the way throughout this family adventure.
It's obvious that It's going to be a bumby and Hilarious ride.
Jeff Daniel's also staring in this movie plays an great role with Robin Williams trying to befriend his family in a weird kind of annoying way.
This movie also stars Cheryl Hines, Kristin Chenoweth and Joanna "JoJo" Levesque in this hilarious comedy adventure.
I give this movie 2 thumbs up.
This movie also comes with tons of extra features, as well as English 5.1 Dolby diital and French 5.1 Doby Digital options.

RV --

I bought this movie because I have previously enjoyed Robin Williams in movies. Unfortunately, the story line is poor and this movie is a waste of Williams' talent.
This movie starts out with Robin Williams portrayed as a subservient father husband, and employee. It goes from bad to ridiculous as he changes plans on his own from an apparently planned posh Hawaiian vacation for his demanding and spoiled family, into a camping week in a ridiculously huge rented RV.
Apparently he's never driven more than a sports car and rented the unit without training. The mistakes he makes are so outrageous that they're abrasive and SO not funny. Like forgetting to put on the brake and the unattended RV rolls into the lake and completely submerges. Robin then swims DOWN to it, starts it up and drives it out! It magically dries and they continue to abuse the vehicle until they become a loving and close family again. The campers they meet on their way are an extreme insulting parody of actual RV-ers willingness to help newer RV-ers.
Unfortunately, the $300,000 motor home doesn't fare so well and is not much more than a heap of rubble when they're finished with it. But they're not worried because they have INSURANCE!
They are also followed along by his boss who is constantly threatening him to "perform" or Williams will be replaced with the stooge, fresh out of school, that follows behind the boss like a puppy.
Completely unbelievable, weak story line, bad acting. Movies should be entertaining and this was so boring that I kept checking to see how much time was remaining and did I want to continue wasting my time.
This was one of the worst movies I've seen in a long while. Compared to Williams' "Awakenings", or "National Treasure", "Finding Nemo" or "Ice Age, The Meltdown", this one is a complete waste of time and talent.

Slipped in the cracks, but find it

In an age where the comedy legends of the past are the movie dad's of the present, who would not want Robin Williams as a movie dad. RV is classic Robin Williams, he is worth watching by himself. Yes, the cast is cliche the teen age daughter with the ugly attitude, the hip hop son and the storyline is not revolutionary, but it is entertaining. The chemistry between Robin Williams and Cheryl Hines is questionable, and certainly not Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt but workable. Kristen Chenworth is 100% adorable, and a joy. This was not a box office blockbuster but a good movie to pick up

A few choice words about a moved called RV
Created: 09/09/10
This is sort of a funny time killer. I bought it because I just borrowed it from my RV friend and wanted to own it for those evenings when we had nothing to do but waste more time watching a well-done RV comedy. It wasn't believable in some parts especially when Williams is his usual irritating self. It has lots of satire about RV's and RV parks. The part about RV parks being dirty and disgusting are totally wrong plus the two parts about Christians like the Gurnicke family being dumb, stupid and goofy were truly in poor taste. It is familiar faire from Hollywood that Christians are the butt of crass jokes and rude, unholy remarks. It did not do RV'ers any good and if I had seen this before going into our situation, I would have thought twice.
I liked the Christian family though. They were in the big, old red RV with the musical horn. They were sweet and talented. Williams and his family were fake, and down right irritating. Seeing this will make you never want to go vacationing in a green, rented motor home. But really....it's horribly funny!
