Back in the '60s, on the Late Show (Television), as a small boy I saw the last half of this movie and was terrified.
For many years I thought I'd never find out what the name of it was, and if I could actually see the whole film.
While visiting IMDB I stumbled across the DVD cover photo and storyline and figured this was it. Took a chance and bought it off ebay (About $5.00). Bingo!
Made in 1963 and well ahead of its time, it paved the way for many films of its type, though few would out-do it.
Arch Halls psycho, murderous, cop-killer character and his nut-job (But scorching hot!) girlfriend terrorize a trio unfortunate enough to have their car break down at a desert junkyard on their way to a ball game. Even at one point during the torment, the ball game is eerily heard playing on a car radio in the background. Without the excessive gore or violence found in todays films, the actors carry this off perfectly, with, what I thought was a very original ending.
If you like the older, black-and-white, out of the mainstream, "B" films, this is one you cannot miss, and you will watch it more than once.

The Sadist

This is a truly gut-wrenching suspense thriller that pulls NO punches.
A group of travellers are stranded at a junkyard and are set upon by a psychotic sociopath and his trashy girlfriend who tortures them body, mind and soul, cackling gleefully the whole time.
The film builds frustration as well as fear as every attempt on the hostages to gain the upper hand is thwarted brutally.
And just as violence begets violence and revenge begets revenge, sadism likewise begets sadism as its guaranteed the viewer will be gleefully satisfied at the Villians vicious, brutal and richly-deserved comeuppance in the end.
Grade A.
