Samantha's Story Collection

This book has a beautiful binding, a ribbon bookmark and the edges of the pages are gold. The illustrations are first rate. They are works of art on the Norman Rockwell scale. The book itself is the story of Samantha, an orphaned child who is 9 years old in 1904. The stories are the classic American Girl stories of Samantha, all bound together in one beautiful book. The book has taught my grandchild the value of loving and protecting books. This particular book is special to her because it is so lovely, the art speaks to her, and the stories make her think. She takes special care of this book, placing it on top of the piano rather than in her bedroom.
I won't recount all the Samantha stories. They are well-known to readers of American Girl. My comments are about how this particular book is unique. It is a treasure for a child to own--something special, and once read, something personal. It's the sort of book she would want to put away to read to her own child years from now.
The other Samantha stories come in separate books. Some of them are hard bound, some of them are paperback. Some come together in a case. But none of the have the magic of this particular edition.
In addition to what I have written, I must say that the book is teaching my grandchild about the industrial revolution, friendship, empowerment, coping with change and adversity, the power of good manners and American history. The book helps her to think about how to be the best of herself.
I hope I have aroused enough curiosity in this review for you to take a look at this book and some of the other special selections that are published by American Girl. (I don't work for Matell or Pleasant Company.)
From my granddaughter's point-of-view, this is a page-turner. She can't wait to come over to read and discuss. Our conversations are meaningful after we have read a chapter or two from Samantha's Story Collection.

I bought this for my 6 year old. She loves these stories and they have become part of our "get ready for bed time" ritual. We had one of the six books and had probably read it about 10 times. This collection gives us the opportunity to expose her to even more stories and more adventures. The stories are very educational and we are very happy with our purchase.

I bought this book for my DD. She loves to read and especially loves American Girl. This book features all 5 of Samantha's Stories in one book. I would recommend it for any little girl in your life.
