Pros:
- USB powered and data connection (Standard USB "A" male cable & connector).
- Small (2.6"L x 1"W x .75"H), plus attached 3" USB cable.
- About the size of 2 stacked packs of gum; 3 counting the USB cable.
- Telephone Jack (RJ-11). Need standard telephone cable; usually included.
- NO external power adapter required.
- Great as a modem for Netbook, if a Dial-Up connection is needed
(e.g., for AOL dial-up connection,
if a broadband connection is not available).
- Also good for desktop PC to save a PCI slot,
and also have dial-up capability as a backup to broadband being down,
or if need to send a fax via PC (either a PC file or via scanner) .

Cons:
- Uses computer speakers for modem speaker
(keeps size down, a plus, but would "mix"
with music during dial-out/connection establishment; not a big concern;
may be able to disable using "AT" commands if it really bugs user).
- Only 2 indicators on modem, but they are the most useful
(OH, OffHook, and DATA [data being sent or received]).
Again, also a plus, keeps size and power consumption down,
but may make troubleshooting connection failure,
or tweaking for best performance, more difficult.

I bought this modem to use on a new Mac Mini running Snow Leopard, so that I could fax from my computer. (the Mini does not come with a modem)
The modem came with software, but it was not needed, the computer recognized the modem automatically as soon as I hooked it up, and I was able to fax with it without any configuration. The price on Ebay was much cheaper than an Apple modem and it worked just fine. I'm totally pleased.

exact same modem - identical packing - at Staples was $60. 2 weeks and working just like the internal modem lightning fried.
