The little printer that could.

Don't let the price or the size of the Samsung ML-2510 fool you. This little printer is more than capable of handling the daily tasks in you home or small office.
Print quality is excellent and very fast. One thing to note, the first page take a few seconds to produce. No big deal unless you are always working at light speed all the time, which will cause you to die young, at that point printer speed matters little.
OEM toner cartridge seems pricey, although it is the only item that will ever need replaced so you only need to keep one item in stock. No drum to replace, it is contained in the toner cartridge. Another note, the toner for this printer is very east to refill. Laser Tek sells a kit to refill 3 toners for under $35, we are using our first of these we refilled ourselves and it seems to be working as good as a new toner. Paperwork states you can refill a toner up to three times, I figure the drum will wear out. Remanufactured toners are plentiful and reasonable if you wish to buy them. A new or refilled toner should yield about 3000+ pages, the starter toner that comes with the printer yields far less.
The only negatives are (1) Envelope Printing. If you use the cheapest envelopes the will get wrinkled, no unusable but wrinkled. Better quality envelopes come out perfect. (2) Paper Tray. If the paper tray gets down around 10 sheets it has trouble picking up the sheets and tells you that you are out of paper. Both very small issues and easy to work around
This is a great little printer. I have one in the office, one at home, and one on the shelf. We also use them for scoring at gymnastics meets, which is a rather fast environment and has enabled us to be the envy of other gyms by way of the speed in which we are able to produce awards and results.
How long will it last?? Cannot tell you yet, the one in the office get used 5-6 days a week and has been in service for almost 2 years with a page count of 10632 with no problems.
Great product from Samsung!!

This is the second Samsung monochrome laser printer I've owned. The first (older version of this same model) is still running strong. The new version is a bit louder to start, but takes shorter time to warm up and spits out the pages much faster. I liked the older version's paper path better (feed from the top rear rather than the bottom front, but Samsung says new version jams less often - something I've rarely experienced other than when the rubber pickup roller dried out after three years of use - In a 10 minute operation, I flipped it inside out to expose new rubber and it's run flawlessly for the last two years).
I've used after market toner cartridges without problem and the new version supposedly takes the same cartridge. This results in cheap ink cost per page of around $0.01/sheet.
For the money (I paid $70 all-in with overnight Fedex included), this monochrome printer offers outstanding value for a home or small office. And for another $8, I got a 2 year extended warranty (from SquareTrade) on top of the 1 year manufacturer warranty.
Samsung may sell em cheap, but they offer great value for the $. Much better than the junk I've bought from Brother over the years.
Buy it.

Great Printer for the price!

My wife is doing an online school and needed to print out book's and alot of them. Using our all in one Inkjet printer she went thru a black ink cartridge in less than one book, plus it took for ever. So I thought we need a Laser Printer but they are so expensive. Well I found this Samsung ML-2510 Laser Printer Brand New on ebay for $62.95 including shipping. After printing two book's we payed for the printer which came with toner from the factory and printed two book's in less than half the time as the Inkjet did and we still have plenty of toner left. So if you have alot of Black and white printing to do, This is definately the way to go. The printer has worked flawlessly so far and I would Highly Recommend this model printer to everyone, you can't beat it for the price, and looking on ebay I found plenty more of them priced reasonably. The Toner cartridges are kind of expensive, but for the amount of pages they print out it is far cheaper than using a typical injet printer, also you can buy Bulk toner and refill the Toner Cartridge yourself for half the price of buying a new one.

Great and fast printer

I do most of my paper work on a inkjet printer. It works pretty well for few sheets, but my papers now require 150 sheets, and it was a pain waiting for them to print.
I was trying to find a fast laser printer but not expensive, and after a lot of research I decided to give Samsung a try... wow... I am surprised, the printer is much faster than I was expecting.
It does not even take too long to start printing, actually its warm up time is faster than my inkjet's.
I am pretty happy with this printer, and I already checked its toner price - and it's not expensive! :)
*** NEW INFO ***
I read some reviews where people were complaining about the fact this printer consumes too much energy, as an electronic engineer, I decided to test and here is the result:
On the driver setup you have an option to select the SAVE ENERGY mode starting on 5 minutes of idle time, 10 minutes, 15, etc... I set mine to 5 minutes. I put a WATTIMETER to check the printer consumption, and here is what I found out... When printing the printer consumes between 500W and 750W... when the printer is on the first 5 minutes of idle time, it consumes about 5W and every 20 seconds it goes to 500W during 1 second and then go back to 4W. After the 5 minutes past, it keeps consuming 4W forever until you decide to print something.
If you have too many things on the same wire, you may experience blinkings on your lights when the printer goes to 500W.

My second Samsung
Created: 03/11/09
I have used a Samsung b&w printer for years. It has proved to be a reliable machine. So, when I needed a second printer I purchased the ML-2510 black and white. The new machine is smaller and faster but construction feels a lot cheaper. At the moment I'm very happy with the purchase. If I have any complaints it would be first that the paper tray in this model is not hidden inside. Obviously, to make the printer smaller this had to be. The second issue would be that the paper tray holds only 250 sheets which is half what my older model holds. Third, there doesn't appear to be a separate tray for single sheet and envelope printing. But I can live with these things as long as the printer is reliable. So far so good, but we'll see. I am a bit concerned about the flimsy construction.
