Pretty good for for a 2.5-year-old technology
Created: 04/03/11
First, I will start by saying that i900 Omnia came out more than 2.5 years ago, so you need to look it in the context. And when you do, you realize that this is a great peace of technology for that generation. My phone originally came with WM 6.1, and I upgraded it on the second day to Windows Mobile 6.5. ROMs to do this are available online, if you follow the instructions to the letter, it's really easy process that takes around 7 minutes. The ROM I used contains modified user interface (M2D), which is way better than the original 6.1.
Good points:
- big screen - it takes lots of space, and provides plenty of room
- excellent synchronization with desktop Windows OS through ActiveSync - comparing to some Android devices, this is a breeze.
- very good battery life considering screen size, this is my favorite, in my opinion better than 95% of Samsungs.
- WM software at the phone runs very fast, faster than some HTC WM models.
Weak points:
- touch screen responsiveness - not the top-of the line, better than Nokias (N97), around some HTC models I had in my hands (Touch and Desire), worse than iPhone 3G, worse than some of the later models like SonyEricsson X8, HTC Wildfire. Again, if you keep in mind that this is 2.5 YO child, it is pretty good.
- screen keyboard is a pain, this is virtually useless if you want to use the usual one it comes with, and I did get the original stylus with the phone. I ended up using FingerKeyboard2, it is the best of what it has to offer, still worse than the one on X8 for example.
- navigation through menus seams to be overly complicated for some things (like reading and writing SMS, checking battery life), I think this is because of the Windows Mobile, not because of the Samsung. Some other things are working perfect like alarms and organizer. I have seen some things on Android phones to be better than this, but some things better on this one (Speed Dial to name one). All comments stated in relation to this are subjective based on my navigation habits and expectations (by now I have used exclusively SonyEricsson as my phone, so it may be up to that).
I haven't written anything about the camera (haven't used it so far) and GPS (also haven't used it by now, a friend of mine uses latest iGo on WM 6.5 on his HTC and it works, so it would for sure work on this one).
To conclude, in my opinion this phone is a very good choice when you compare its price with what this piece of technology provides.

This phone is brand new in the box with 16GB and is really nice. I just got the cell phone 2 days ago and I am still trying to learn about all of the features that is on it. I did not want to pay for a data plan because I would not use it that often but, it has WIFI so I can use it where ever it is available. It also has a GPS and Microsoft Windows Applications. I am really satisfied.

Emmm... ok, i900....

I desired this pda for so long... huge screen, excelent style, sleek, huge 5mp camera, cristal clear sound, 8gb internal memory, great speed, way better than htc tytn, htc touch, an so.
ok, the bad: you need to upgrade the software if you want to have the whole benefit of this pda. i compared the camera against a nokia 5530 and guess who wins? yeap, the 5530. and that one have a 3mp camera!
the touch screen is nice, but htc its just better. thats another software bug. the wireless network is nice too, but i think the iphone is better in that matter.
i am happy with this pda, but dont misundestand this review. if you dont need windows mobile just dont buy this. if you want a ¨fun phone¨ buy an iphone, a samsung jet or something without windows. this is a PDA, there is a big diference. this is not like an iphone and is not a ¨iphone killer¨ as some have said. i need windows mobile because of my job, thats why i bought this samsung i900. it has some weak points but im overall satisfied with my i900.

My 1st WinMobile Smart
Created: 16/02/11
Short.
Phone - was a little troubles - it can't call, reboot helps, now it's OK
Screen - good, but not excellent, colors. Resolution is standard. Touching works fine.
Options - everything works good as was expected.
16 Gb of RAM - very good.
Productivity - good, but not excellent.
WinMobile interface - satisfactable, 3 of 5. I'd love icons a little bit bigger, it's hard to touch where it must be touched without stylus.

Sleek Champ for Windows-Savvy That Beats iPhone
Created: 14/02/10
I LOVE the Samsung Omnia i900, firstly because it's not an iPhone but it sure does give it some very worthy competition. Mine uses Windows Mobile 6.5, which is easy to navigate if you're famililar with Windows. That being said, it IS Windows, so there are some laggy points, like IE spazzing out, but that's a Windows norm, sadly. However, the design of the phone is sleek, not too curvy (unlike the iPhone), and easy to handle while also maintaining eye candy status. The greatest thing about this phone is its WiFi capability! Most Samsung phones, as I've discovered, don't have WiFi capability, but the Omnia does, and it's awesome! Configuration for it is easy, as well. The touchscreen capability is great, though I am a first-time touchscreen user...with this as my first experience, I am very pleased! The 5MP camera is great, and also records video. Also, this phone can conduct video calls to other phones with the same capability! Though, I don't know any other people posessing phones with this. If you've watched Boys Over Flowers, the Korean TV series, then this is basically their phone. All-in-all, I love this phone! Though Windows can sometimes be iffy, that does not hinder the performance and charm of this phone. I strongly recommend buying the Samsung Omnia i900 if you're wanting the most for your money (and want to look ultra savvy, sophisticated, and on top of the world, all at the same time. :])
