Samsung SC-D103 Camcorder - Silver

The Samsung SC-D103 in a great little camcorder. The picture quality when shooting outside is excellent but a little weak when indoors or in low lighting. There is a Nite Pix feature that is fantastic. It allows you to shoot in almost complete darkness. The picture is black and white but you can see things clearly. There is also a LED light on the front of the camcorder that you can turn on (although it does drain the battery fairly quickly).
The camera has an image stabilization feature that works very well. The viewing screen is large and crystal clear. There is a built in speaker so you can also hear the video when you are playing it back.
I paid $120 US for my camcorder, with shipping. I feel I got an excellent deal. A similiar camera in my home town is selling for $250. I am sure there are better quality camera on the market but for the price, and for the few times I'm going to use it, this camera is the perfect choice.

I had this camcorder for 3 years with great video and exceptional audio. Too bad after 3 years with only occasional use the CCD failed. Now it still records great audio but only a black picture.

I have read that the problem is a bad ribbon cable inside the unit. I opened it up and reseated all the ribbon cables and it worked for a few days before going black again.

This seems to be an issue with many Samsung camcorder models. Samsung is aware of the problem and will charge you $150.00 to fix it.

it was a great deal... small and compact... easier to shoot video... gonna use it to film planes and cars and make some cool movies i hope.... might film me and my girlfriend... on vacation!!!

I BOUGHT THIS CAMARA BECAUSE I WANT TO TAKE A VIDEO OF MY KIDS AND LOAD THE GAMES ON A DVD TO GIVE TO THE PARENTS OF EACH PLAYER,,BUT..THIS ITEM IS OLD NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MY COMPUTER..I COULDNT SET UP THE CAM SOFTWORD ON MY COMPUTER I BOUGHT 2 DIFFERENT CABLES AND STILL I COULD NOT MAKE IT TO WORK..I EVENT BOUGHT A MEMORY STICK NOT WAS HARD TO FIND..SINCE THE CAMARA WAS SOLD TO ME WITHOUT IT..ISTILL HAVEN BEEN ABLE TO MAKE IT WORK ON MY COMPUTER..IT WORKS OK..PICTURES ARE NOT GOOD AT ALL..BUT VIDEO ITS CLEAR AND ABLE TO SEE ON MY TV..NOT ON ANY ADVANCE COMPUTER...TO BAD...ITS OK FOR $100 DLLS I AREDY SPEND TRYING TO MAKE IT WORK!!!!

I purchased a used SCD103 and after 3-4 days of having the unit the LCD screen turned white and would only work when the screen was reveresed. The camara was not dropped or mis- handled. When I researched the camara for LCD problems I found that there is a class action lawsuit against Samsung for defective LCD screens. The lcd problems where consistant but varied from lines in the screen and black screens to no pictures.. all reported recording and playback fine with the bW view finder. If you are going to buy one of these camaras I would suggest google LCD problems with this camara!
