A Good bang for your Buck

I've got this player for Christmas and I've got to say it's almost perfect.
I Rockboxed it and it works perfect Outstanding audio quality (much better than the Ipod Touch)video nice screen and quick menu.Only down side was battery life wich is a bit shorter than the said-so 25 hr audio playback(maybe beacuse I have a Refurbished Model dunno I only get around 16-18hrs)the other tiny problem was the headphones build quality, they sound amazing but, they have thin wires wich are bound to brake(mine failed after a month) overall it's a Solid build Player, the metal back case gives it a very good protection from scratces and shocks and acts as a radio antenna, giving it excellent FM reception.
Highly recomanded for anyone out there looking for a buget player with high end capabilities.
Features :
Flac playback
MicroSD extension Slot(very useful-up to 32 GB of extra memory)
Silicon-coated metal back wich protects it from scratches.
Video Playback.
Supports Rockbox-Alternative Firmware wich extends its capabilities to the max with Text editor, games and applets,Video Player, cronometer, calendar, alarm and many other functions.
OUTSTANDING Audio Sound Quality-Courtesy of the great DAC also featured in the Clip model.Rumors say its even betterthan its succesor Sansa fuze+ at sound Quality.Me personaly I've never heardbetter sound from anyother player.
My verdict for the refurbished 4 gb model-8.5 out of 10.Highly recomended.

great & versatile little mp3 player

I bought this player to replace my old one (also a fuze) which I accidentally dropped in the john. The player holds hundreds of songs by itself and also has a slot for a microSD card. It's a photo viewer & plays videos (although I find the screen too small for comfortable viewing). And the reason why I've now bought 2 of these is that it also has an FM tuner, so I can listen to the radio too. All of this for a really good price. The player is moderately water-proof. My old one survived a few runs in the rain (another plus is that it's really light and compact). But alas, it will not survive a dunk in the toilet. If it did, I would rate it excellent.

Review For: SanDisk Sansa Fuze Black (8 GB) Digital Media Player
If you are considering purchasing the Sansa Fuze MP3 player than most likely you are comparing it with an iPod Nano. In this review, I will compare the Sansa Fuze (which I own) To the iPod Nano 4G, 5G and 6G. I own an iPod Nano 4G. I have used a 5G enough to be familiar with it. I provide comparison to 6G based on specification only.
Transferring songs:
The Fuze is great because you can plug it in like a flash drive and transfer music to it. You do not need software to copy songs to it. You are not stuck with only transferring songs from one computer (like with the iPod). You can browse the songs by ID3 tags or by folders.
Winner: Fuze, by far.
Features:
The Fuze has a built-in FM radio and you can digitally record the radio while listening to it. It supports obscure Slotradio format cards that let you buy 1000 songs for about $40 legally with restrictions. You can watch videos and view photos on it's small screen. It has a built-in voice recorder. The Nano 4G has video and photo viewing, no voice recorder or FM radio. Those features, plus a video camera, speaker, built-in pedometer (with Nike+) were added in the 5G. Both the 4G & 5G Nano have better screens than the Sansa Fuze. The iPod Nano 6G loses the voice recorder, speaker, video camera and video playback functionality but still retains the pedometer & FM radio. No Nanos support recording from the FM radio, which the Fuze supports.
Winner: Nano 5G, then Fuze, then Nano 4G with 6G last in place.
Navigation:
The Fuze has a similiar scroll wheel as the iPod Nano 4G and 5G, however, with the Nano scroll wheel, you don't actually move the wheel, you just rub your finger over it. The Fuze's wheel actually rotates and has little grooves you can feel as you 'click' over them. This provided superior tactile feedback & response. The iPod 6G uses a touch screen, which provides no tactile feedback at all.
Winner: Fuze, barely.
Memory Expansion:
It supports MicroSDHC cards which means it can go up to 40GB using a 32GB card. None of the iPods have support for memory expansion.
Winner: Fuze, by far.
Supported Audio Formats:
The Fuze supports Audible formats (.AA), FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA, and secure WMA.) The iPod natively supports AAC, protected AAC, Aiff, WAV and MP3 formats. The Fuze works with Rhapsody and the Nanos work with the iTunes store.
Winner: Fuze, barely.
Battery Life:
The battery life on my unit is good, but I still need to charge it a couple times a week with heavy use. This may have something to do with the fact that I bought it refurbished. The battery on this model is not easily removable, but neither is any iPod battery. My iPod Nano 4G requires charging just about as often, but I think it has a slight edge here.
Winner: Nano, barely.
Sound Quality:
The sound quality is very good for both the Sansa Fuze and iPod Nanos. Both Fuzes and Nanos include EQs and neither provides DSP effects. However, The Sansa Fuze provides slightly less distortion at maximum volume.
Winner: Fuze, barely.
Accessories:
The ipod has thousands of high-quality accessories to choose from, unlike the Sansa Fuze, which like most non-ipod Mp3 players, has barely any proprietary accessories for it. However, you obviously can connect it to any thing that accepts a standard 3.5mm jack, as you could using an iPod as well.
Winner: Nano, by far.
Value:
The 8GB Fuze is much less expensive than any 8GB iPod Nano.
Winner: Fuze, by far.
Overall: Fuze Wins, by Far!

Review For: SanDisk Sansa Fuze Black (8 GB) Digital Media Player
This is a lot of MP3 player for the money. It takes an SD micro-card so it can go to 16 GB of storage. I have all my music, all of the scriptures, and several audio books on mine with room to spare. The interface is a little cumbersome, it takes a lot of maneuvering to get what you want playing. I have yet to figure out how to make a play-list work. My seller sent it without software, but it uses Rhapsody, which is a free download as is the cryptic manual. I have bought two of these (a four and an eight GB), so I'm a repeat buyer. Obviously I'm pleased. I have yet to find one that gives me what I need for less. The battery lasts forever. I work on the docks and sweat profusely, it gets pretty beat up. I have never had a problem with it. I did have to reset the software and format the memory once when I first got it and was stuffing huge files on it. I was not using Rhapsody, just cut and pasting the files. I do put clear tape over the display screen. It is a tough little cookie. I'm getting ready to buy a third. Mine was recently stolen. When you are getting them for $45 instead of $250 that's less painful.
