Review For: SanDisk Sansa Fuze+ SDMX20R Black (8 GB) Digital Media Player (Latest Model)
The first mp3 player that I bought on my own was a Sansa e200, a small but economical player that I've been using for almost 5 years. After that amount of time I figured it was time for an upgrade, and the attractive new generation of Sansa players seemed like a good choice. I couldn't complain about the price, either - especially once I expanded the memory with a micro SD card.
However, after using this player for a month I have to wonder what happened to the original player's design team. In place of easy to use buttons or a scroll wheel is a touch screen. The touch screen is extremely sensitive and even a light tap with any object (clothing, keys, etc) will change the song or stop it. The touchpad does not illuminate when pressed, making navigation difficult in low light due to the relatively small size for the number of touch-sensitive buttons.
Navigation is a chore because the menus change slowly - there is a noticeable half-second or more of lag between tapping the pad and the menu changing or scrolling, enough time to make you wonder whether you've actually hit the pad in the correct place. Scrolling through songs/artists/playlists and menus is therefore slow even at maximum swipe scrolling speed, and the fact that menus do NOT wrap around to the beginning means you need to scroll completely back through the list every time you need to access a previous option.
Lastly, the software itself seems to be pretty buggy - already I've had the player freeze a number of times. Sometimes it is random, other times when connecting to the computer or attempting to sync music.
Unfortunately I decided to stick it out with this player past the short return period, so I'm now making the best of it. It does have good battery life and compared to what I'd pay for an iPod holding the same number of songs it's a great deal. But poor design choices make this a player I'd avoid even at the low price I paid for it. If you've had a Sansa in the past and are hoping for an upgrade, this would NOT be it.

I have owned and used Sansa Fuze players for several years, and bought this one for the greater memory capacity. While it does have some improvements from previous models, they also made it worse in some other ways. Here is the good and the bad of it.
GOOD. Bigger video screen and higher resolution capability make video viewing much better. The greater memory capacity is always welcome. I also think the sound quality is slightly improved.
BAD: The old wheel navigation was way better than this new swipe system. And what happened to the hold button? Finding a particular item is nowhere near as easy as it was on the older model as the menus are not nearly as comprehensive or intuitive.
I am disappointed when I find a manufacturer lessens the value of a product, and Sansa has done that in some ways with this new Fuze. Nonetheless, it remains a solid value and well worth the money.

This is for a SanDisk Sansa Fuze Plus

I absolutely love my Sansa Fuze +! I bought this item for the expandable memory, the compact size and all the options that it comes with! The only drawback is that the touch screen is very sensitive and can easily be bumped into a different category if you are not careful. I think that a screen protector may be a good way to both protect and dull the sensitivity of the screen, so overall, I would give this item a ten out of ten!!!

I have a Sansa MP3 from a few years ago that is still working well, so when I came across this model, I bought two- big mistake. This model is very hard to control. It hangs a long time, then jumps several screens ahead, etc. Then trying to go back you end up not where you want to be. Also volume is limited and inadequate for busy gym situation.
Key lock didn't work the way the instructions told you, i.e. pressing hold button a certain way, which caused much problem if you put it in pocket it was changing all over the place. After online upgrade screen now reads hold down power button for key lock, so that's finally resolved (except it often turns off when trying to lock keys, then you have to start the whole long process of booting up again). But why shouldn't you get a button lock on the first day? It's very basic and very necessary, but was too much to expect from this manufacturer. Then I found a blog provided by ?? that explains every problem is the consumer's fault for "abusive button pushing". Don't let it fool ya', this thing is out of control.
I bought it to listen to audio books from Audible, as it's one of their "approved" devices that they'll let you download onto. I definitely would not buy again or recommend, unless maybe you don't want to control what is playing and price is super cheap.

Review For: SanDisk Sansa Fuze+ SDMX20R Black (8 GB) Digital Media Player (Latest Model)
I bought this MP3 player because I washed my Creative Zen Mosaic, which I adored. This MP3 player is very pretty. I loved the color selection. The touchpad was sinple to manuver but sometime difficult to get it to the song you actually want to select, I found I overshot songs a lot and had to go back to get the one I really wanted. The menus were a little hard for me to figure out. If I selected Music I wouldn't be able to find all the songs that I had on the player, only about six of them were available and I don't know how I actually ended up finding the whole list of the songs. I was really just stumbling around pushing buttons to see what would happen. I'm not a Sansa hater, I plan on buying another product of theirs, this on was just not for me.
