Movie synopsis

It's 1962, and young Scotty Smalls has just moved to town with his mom, his stepfather, and his desire to make friends in his new home. But when he heads to the local sandlot he's laughed off the field in his awkwardness until the leader of the gang, Benny Rodriguez, takes him under his wing. Soon the boys become the best of friends, and "Smalls," as he is dubbed, is introduced to a cast of funny and unique characters; their summer adventures include treehouse sleepovers, encounters with a beautiful lifeguard, and of course, baseball. But when Smalls hits his first home run it is a Pyrrhic victory, as his stepfather's ball, autographed by Babe Ruth, lands in the adjoining lot which is guarded by "The Beast," a dog rumored to have once eaten a kid. The kids have some hilarious adventures and unexpected results in their efforts to regain the ball before Smalls' stepfather finds out it's missing, making this a film the whole family will enjoy.

Benny Rodriguez Lives and Breathes Baseball

Created: 28/07/06
This is a classic movie. I can watch this over and over. Great fun and excitement. Truly team work. The neighborhood kids gather at local 'Sand lot' to play ball. Benny Rodriquez is just hooked on baseball. He gets the neighborhood kids to play every day. There is one kid, Smalls, who is clumsy as all heck. They're playing and the ball flies over the fence where they believe this killer dog / monster dog exists. It's quite funny and they are pretty clever. They also learn who Babe Ruth is as well as his friend George. A great movie to add to your collection.

Family sports flick.

The most EXCELLENT family baseball flick ever put to the big screen! History laden and factful events. No rubber arm teenage aces in the big league's here. Just good old baseball, hotdogs and chevrolet? Based from the 1960's and real kids stuff from "the Beast" to "Wendy" to the good 'ol "Bambino" himself!!! A must see for any sports afflicted family and a must have for the collection!

The Sandlot

This is a movie that our family watched over and over again in VHS format. We did not have the DVD. While my men (no longer boys) are grown up - it was a great family movie to watch together. It has that feel good component about it but lots of lessons learned. I recommend it to everyone (especially if they have kids!)

The Sandlot-DVD

The Sandlot is the premier baseball kid movie and it is a delight for adults also. It brings you back to a simpler time when winning the game is everything and summer time baseball games are spontaneous and enjoyed passionately. My whole family loves this movie and has for years. In fact- this is a present for my 24 year old daughter!

Great Family Film

Created: 15/10/06
This is a very cute movie. My boys enjoy it and watch it over and over. These kids that don't really fit in the CROWD make a baseball team. They learn to work together to accomplish a goal. It has a funny story line and humor througout the movie that makes you laugh. There is also some childhood suspense. It is a GREAT well rounded film.

This movie is a WINNER!
