    Movie synopsis

Brian De Palma's blood-and-sun-drenched saga of a Cuban deportee's rise to the top of Miami's cocaine business has become something of a popular classic since its release; it's been referenced in rap songs and subsequent gangster movies and quoted the world over. Despite this lovefest with the dialogue, the film's brutal violence and lack of positive characters still make it controversial and disliked by certain critics. Al Pacino stars as Tony Montana, whose intelligence, guts, and ambition help him skyrocket from dishwasher to the top of a criminal empire but whose eventual paranoia and incestuous desire for his kid sister (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) prove his undoing. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Tony's neglected coke-addicted trophy wife, and Steven Bauer is his concerned friend. F. Murray Abraham, Robert Loggia, and Paul Shenar are some of Tony's sleazy business partners and potential killers. Oliver Stone wrote the expletive-packed screenplay, based on Howard Hawks's 1932 version--which was ostensibly about Al Capone and starred Paul Muni and George Raft. The synth-heavy Giorgio Moroder score expertly evokes the drug-fueled decadence of 1980s Miami, and De Palma provides several of his elaborate set pieces, including a horrific showstopper in a motel room with a chain saw.

An amazing tale of crime, passion, greed and power. Bringing the real life events of a war torn Cuba and a criminal political prisoner in Tony Montana, Scarface rocks what was little known to most not born in that era. Realizing that the American dream was more than just a phrase used by Yankees, Tony sets out to make a name for himself, and re-invents himself alst while selling drugs and controling his temper. A surely amazing movie to watch, and a definite movie to own.

    Scarface is bloody good entertainment

    Created: 19/08/07
This is a real nice movie despite some graphic violence, certainly not for the kids. Its a great look at a character that seeks to make good in a culture that seems to have a lot to offer for those with a "carpe diem" sort of attitude in that they are willing to "seize the day!" as it were and whatever it is they are called upon to do in order to achieve whatever success in material form that can come their way in the land of plenty, the land of opportunity, not known for showering favors on the meek.

Michele Pfeiffer is not in her element at all and deserves to be rescued from the main actors in the plot of this movie, it ravages her soul to be demeaned as a pice of property to be yanked back and forth in a competition for the top spot of thug in a rather ugly manner.

In the end the clash of cultures, the need for some sense of sanity for some morals in a culture gone amok to venerate the buck over everything good and decent is something that will finally need to be taken seriously so that we do in fact end up with an allocation of resources based on merit rather than brute force and with a society that is safe and truly just rather than brutally insane.

Al Pacino is always great and loved by his fans, count me in on this one, he is the best there is! The movie is worth watching and owning, we even donated a copy to the local library here.

    Title says it all...

I love Al Pacino!!! I have seen almost everything he has been in and love his versatility! This one is extremely bloody and violate, but it does fill you in on the ways of crime lords and their worker bees... It has so many cool sayings and of course the most memorable is "Say hello to my little friend..." Seems he dies in most of his movies, this one was spectacular!!! LOVED IT!!! I have seen it numerous tims and finally decided to add it to my DVD collection.

What a great movie! This is a great example of Al Pacino's acting abilities. Who would have thought he could do so well as a crazy little Cuban? This movie is about Money, power, and greed. It shows you that all the money in the world can't buy you happiness. Hope you like it!

    The World Was His!!!

Everyone has a take on this film. A 26 year old flick that mirrors the events of the present day. Some loved it, some hated it. I suggest you watch for the sheer acting abilities of all of the cast & of course, Al Pacino, who does a back-up job at everything he plays! If you are squeamish or easily offended by the material, please do yourself a favour, don't see it. The rest of if you do not have it in your library, get it while you can!!! One Pacino's finest performances in history.
