5 star movie, plain and simple. A MUST watch!

Created: 19/11/10
The first time I heard about this movie, I was honestly expecting a simple teenage romance/comedy movie. Now, after watching it, here's my thoughts on it. And I'll keep it short and simple:
Despite the cheesy "boy meets girl, falls in love" storyline, the plot itself was original and... Well, let's say "hilarious". Basically, Scott Pilgrim meets this girl, Ramona Flowers, and falls in love with her. And after finally hitting things off, poor Scott finds out he has to defeat her love's seven evil ex-boyfriends in order for them to date.
I thought it was a simple plot, but it turned out brilliant. The story's flow throughout the movie was good enough to get into it until the very end. Also, the video game references I saw throughout the whole movie were amazing. Watching enemies turning into coins after being defeated, well... That sure made my day!
The fights were all mind blowing, I enjoyed all of them. The visual effects sure made this movie even better. An excellent job, I have to admit. I haven't seen such an incredible movie in a long, long time.
About the music in this movie, it was all great. All the fights in this movie had very good background music that could keep you in the mood throughout the whole fight. I mean... Even Matthew Patel's "high school musical" moment was both catchy and hilarious!
Now the actors, well... I don't know most of them. In fact, Michael Cera turned out to be the only actor I recognized right away. But all of them did a good job. I loved all the characters in this movie. They all had a very interesting role in the story, and they all turned out to be great, each in their own way.
I'm giving 5 stars out of 5 to this movie for its interesting characters, impressive music and its swee and hilarious story.

Interesting how if the blu-ray player is connected to the internet you can view new previews instead of the usual what is on the disc.
This movie is based on the 6 volume Graphic Novel Scott Pilgrim. I've only read the first 2 volumes. The movie seems to have more video game nods & jokes than the first 2 comics. Watched it again & again. Still awesome.
From what I have seen while skimming through volume 3 the later fights/Boss battles are gone focused on rather than including the whole story, since I guess it would be 3 hours long like Watchmen if everything was in the movie.

Great Translation from Comic to Movie

Created: 07/12/10
Scott Pilgrim vs the World is an excellent movie. It's fun and very pop art. It's a pretty good translation of the graphic novels without following them all the way home. This movie is destined to be a cult classic.

I was born in 1970 and this is one of my favorite movies of all time. Funny, artsy, great special effects, touching, it looks great in high def...and more. I spoke with some people who did not like it that like big action movies and such. This is not a "main-stream" movie but is certainly not low budget. Superb casting, great acting, great costumes and set....highly recommended.
