Movie synopsis

Willard Fillmore (Norm MacDonald) has been the butler, housekeeper, gardener, and chauffeur for the wealthy, shrewish Miss Crock for fifteen years. When she refuses to buy him a new uniform, he decides he's finally had enough of her shrill, demanding ways, and with the help of his best friend Rusty (Dave Chappelle), they hit on a foolproof scheme: kidnap Miss Crock's beloved dog Muffin and ransom it for one million dollars. When this plan fails the two look for other ways to get away with Miss Crock's money, resulting in an encounter with stun-gun wielding grade schoolers, frustrated detectives, and a bizarre mortician by the name of Grover Cleaver (Danny DeVito) who is obsessed with Hawaii Five-O. Codirectors Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (screenwriters of ED WOOD and MAN ON THE MOON) make their directorial debut and pay homage to the great screwball comedy classics of the past with this frenetic, wildly goofy farce.

SCREWED

Created: 08/02/09
it reminded me of a '70's JOHN WATERS MOVIE without the outrageousness...the acting was over the top overacting (except for Elaine Stritch who is always perfect)...Norm Macdonald should have toned it down and Dave Chappelle should have hooded it up a little, he was almost nerdy which was unnerving for me. the jokes were weak to say the least. in the end the only word that comes to mind is DUMB!!! and to think a friend of mine recommended this flick....SHEESH! OH YEAH and Danny Devito was down right
"sex-offender" creepy, not in a comedic way either, he showed me a side of him that is not marketable. Elaine Stritch kept me from giving this one a "POOR" score...the only one that got SCREWED here is the public...

Funny moments for Chappelle and company....

Created: 02/11/08
I saw part of this movie on TV. Being a big Dave Chappelle fan, I couldn't pass up the chance to get this DVD on EBay for about $4 to see the whole thing without the cuts that were on TV. Chappelle and Norm McDonald play the parts well of two buffoons trying to fake a kidnapping. Danny DeVito's character is pretty screwy, too, to add to the laughs. Not the greatest comedy by any means, but for the price I paid I feel that I got my money's worth.

Highly Disappointing

Created: 05/04/09
I bought Screwed because I loved Dirty Work. The lineup of Norm, Chappelle, and DeVito seemed to be deadly on paper, but the movie just doesn't deliver. The script is too stiff and formulaic. The movie doesn't really let the actors show what makes them so funny. Too many canned lines and situations, too predictable. I chuckled a couple times, but not nearly as much as I hoped I would.

I think this movie is one of the funniest yet. I eve loaned it to my Mother-In-Law that has no sense of humor at all lol and she even thought it was funny. Anything that can make her laugh HAS t be funny lol
