Small but packed to the max with power!

Created: 10/06/09
Ten years ago as I worked as a high tier technical support staff for a major computer company we were amazed by how much space could be packed into our systems hard drives. We thought the world was at our doorstep as the drive manufactures finally broke the 1 gigabyte barrier. Nobody at the time could imagine accumulating that much data at one time on a system, and we would never run out.

Here we are now in 2009 with the attitude that 1 gig is almost useless to anyone active in the current age of media transfers, video mail, and the ever popular P2P & streaming web content.

The Seagate FreeAgent Go 500 GB USB Hard Drive is one of a series of drive out now that operate via usb2.0 as the sole connection, literally fits in your pocket, and can hold more information than the total capacity of the pre-'www.' DARPA-NET when it started.

Seagate is one of the [if not only] few hard drive manufactures whos name has survived the bloody battles between companies wage in the war of data storage over the relative long history of the twenty some years we call the personal computer industry. Any they still have many tricks up the sleeve when it comes to the FreeAgent line of external drives.

I personally have three of them in rotational use for either backing up projects, transferring absolutely huge media & design data files via sneaker-net, or loading up a full presentation to take to a clients presentation without having to haul my own gear through post 9/11 mass transit security. I started with a FreeAgent Go 360 gig to help with our systems upgrades & cross porting. Then after things settled down that drive became our data pack for transport, and I purchased a 500 gig FreeAgent Pro to serve as our in house back up unit. As a 3.5" form factor drive it worked well plugged in, and connected to our lead office station. It not only covered as a backup unit, it also became a central point to make available & access co-operative projects. And since I started this program less than a year ago, the prices have dropped while the capacities have shot through the roof!

This Seagate FreeAgent Go 500 GB USB Hard Drive with its mini/laptop sized actual drive would have never been thought possible a year ago with its size to price ratio. Nor would many people believe its physical size either! I love the fact that I can dump over a week straight of video, or two months worth of audio into something the size of my calculator, then take it with me where ever I go, then just plug it into an available USB port & run with it from there.

And that is why the Seagate FreeAgent Go USB Hard Drive series is oh so appropriatly named. Like my Grandma from Hammond IN. would say, "Try it, you'll like it. And when you like it you'll want more!"

Excellent Hard Drive This Seagate FreeAgent Go!

Created: 16/03/11
I bought this external hard drive several years ago. It has been a great product. I have had no problems with this model. I have the dock part as well and it just finishes it off nicely. I like how fast it is due to the two USB inputs it has. I looked for another external drive when my lap started to have problems and was able to back up everything easily. So I bought this second one for my photos and projects only. It has been a good product and will enable to keep my files for a long time.

FreeAgent Go drive. Sleek and Portable.

I bought a 500gb external hard drive and It is Awesome. It is a little more stylish than the WD externals. It comes with install software but you can remove it and use the devise strictly for storage. I would recomend A seagate Go Drive for it's stylish look. One of the best drives out there.

I would recommend the Seagate FreeAgent Go USB.

It's easy and faster to setup and use it. Right now I have a lot of hard drive space free to backup my personal and business information.

Probably best on the market

This portable hard drive is very highly rated, e.g. it has 261 reviews on Amazon, 179 of which are five-star. It is very slim and sleek, and beats the comparable WD drive (which is thicker and less power efficient). Also, it has the highest capacity currently available as a USB-powered hard drive. It has worked flawlessly for me so far and I find that it is very fast. What else can I say? I believe it is the best in its class, and its price is very favorable.
