And true to form, it's another stunning work, although it becomes clear that a musical maturation has taken place. Produced by ex-Buggles frontman Trevor Horn (Pet Shop Boys, ABC, Yes, Frankie Goes to Hollywood), Seal is far more enchanting than his debut. True, Seal is a bit too relaxed at times, but aside from that criticism, the record is lush with harmonies and over-the-top melodies. "Don't Cry" flows with the luxuriant vibes of a hushed vocal and a bellowing string arrangement. Seal showcases his collaborative talent with "If I Could," a duet featuring Canadian folkie Joni Mitchell. "Kiss from a Rose" and "Prayer for the Dying" established Seal as a household name after both became radio and television mainstays. The soul is there, hauntingly similar to singer Terence Trent D'Arby. But what's so unique about Seal is his gift of transforming free-flowing songs into quick dancefloor tracks with a transcendent step into musical magic. His voice has a spell like that, and his second album reflects such skills. ~ MacKenzie Wilson

Christopher Lee Rhyne Review 70

Created: 19/04/09
Electronic music contributes Seal's organic vocals. Now some will say aesthetic I question that theory with my own opinion on British soul. Sealhenry Samuel singer/songwriter sold his 3,500,000 + copies worldwide already. Dance culture from the 90's is driving hard with an ultimate comback. As you probably know 1996 was the year Seal topped the US charts.

CD TRACKS---- 1. Bring It On ----- 2. Prayer for the Dying ----- 3. Dreaming in Metaphors ----- 4. Don't Cry----- 5. Fast Changes ----- 6. Kiss from a Rose ----- 7. People Asking Why ----- 8. Newborn Friend ----- 9. If I Could ----- 10. I'm Alive ----- 11. Bring It On

Seal's 2000 career has remained commercial performance only with Seal's own songwritting signature on this CD. Lyrics gears towards teens and adults, because the CD's wrap is about life and death in Seal's portal.

GRAMMY NOMINATIONS----- Prayer For The Dying & Newborn Friend

Soul or rhythm 5***** rate. I got mine at Wal*Mart, I read some info on Seal through the web just browsing. You should give this CD a trymaybe it might be your quality time out.

This CD is timeless!

Created: 16/08/08
Great CD -- I like every song. To me, it's "easy listening" and I play it often; it works well in the car, on the job, and at home. I often focus on the lyrics (e.g. "You are the light on the dark side of me.") -- to me, that's deep. I look at the release date and I can't believe it was 14 years ago! I am convinced that it's just as good now as it was then. Enjoy!
