    Synopsis
Elizabeth is the "second assistant" at a talent agency in Hollywood, where her immediate supervisor (the "first assistant") is a woman named Lara. Their boss is the volatile and druggy Scott. The extremely undemanding nature of the job gives Elizabeth plenty of time to fall in love--and to follow her own personal dream: to make the definitive film of CRIME AND PUNISHMENT. The authors, Clare Naylor and Mimi Hare, are Hollywood folks themselves: both are well-known film producers.

A former congressional intern who takes a job as second assistant at The Agency, a powerful Hollywood talent agency, Elizabeth Miller never expected to have to cope with the trials, tribulations, and dirty dealings of the film world, from a Machiavellian assistant and company power struggle to a lecherous producer and ritalin-snorting boss. 100,000 first printing.

If you've ever had anything to do with the movie business, or if you've always wanted to, this is the book for you! Elizabeth Miller leaves a job in Washington for the bright lights of Hollywood! She's hired as a Second Assistant to an agent who works at The Agency and who is the perfect candidate for the Betty Ford Clinic. But as she makes her way through the pitfalls of the industry, she learns to navigate The Rules of Sex and Dating in Hollywood:

    1. Never sleep with your boss unless you have a good sexual-harassment lawyer on retainer.
    2. If you're sleeping your way up the ladder, remember it's the ugly men who are the cruelest.
    3. Be prepared to tell all the details of your sexual exploits to as many people as possible as soon after the event as possible. Because his version will be ten times worse.
    4. Never give stock tips, script secrets, or movie ideas to your lover. He will steal them.
    5. AA, NA and SA are all good places to meet movie stars, producers, and directors if access is proving to be a problem.
    6. In all reality, if you need to have sex, do it with the pool boy or craft-services guy on a movie set. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache.

Does Lizzie escape the heartache? Every page has a laugh, a surprise, and characters you'll come to hate...and love. I loved it!
