The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry (DVD, 2010)

This is a great movie for the whole family. It illustrates how faith can be spread, one person at a time. The movie also shows how even those whose hearts are hardened can be touched and changed by God. As you watch the movie, you will laugh and cry, and the ending may not be what you expect. It does, however, sum up the whole theme of the movie, which is love and compassion for one's neighbor.

The neighborhood where the movie was filmed is beautiful, and the three boys who are the main characters are exceptional. Gavin McLeod and Robert Guillaume are both brilliant in their roles. If you are a Christian, the movie will reinforce your beliefs; if not, it may very well cause you to examine your life and make some major changes. I highly recommend "The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry" for young and old alike!

"The Secrets Of Jonathan Sperry" is one of those rare movies that comes along once in awhile. It's a heartwarming story that the entire family will not only love watching but will learn from it.
I found by watching this movie how far short I come on loving others the way we should. To be a Christian like Jonathan Sperry should be every Christian's desire. It is a touching message that will impact the young and old. The boy's that play in this movie learned a valuable lesson about love and forgiveness and so should all that watches it. You may also want to get out the tissues, my wife and I had to. Don't worry about the PG rating, it's for mild thematic elements only, there is nothing unclean in this movie. It's worth watching and sharing, Christian or not.

I bought this dvd, The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry DVD, 2010, after hearing a promo on a local Christian TV channel. I wanted to buy it for my granddaughter.
I watched it & was very impressed by the entire viewing, but especially by the fact that it addressed the subject of death & the afterlife....which "we" (most of the western culture) do not seem to discuss. There is alot of MISinformation in & out of the church...most of it due to lack of knowledge (found in The Word)or man's traditions. This film, based on the life of a REAL man, Jonathan Sperry, found a way to approach death & deal with the reality of the afterlife while in this present life! AWESOME! This is just one of the themes running through this film. Considering our cultures' dark entertainment values, movies like this need to be supported & upheld. It shows the values that have all but disappeared from our society in the last 50-60 years or so (the dvd takes place in mid-70s)...something I WANT my children AND grandchildren to be able to comprehend...because thay don't see these values as much in our world today. They see alot more violence & deception/manipulation occurring, even in the seemingly less harmful childrens' fare of today's pop culture.
I highly recommend this dvd to watch with your family & friends, churched or not churched...it WILL bring up some real discussions & may initiate some investigation & searching!

When I first saw this DVD in our church library I was not impressed by the title. I looked like a kiddy show, but because it was by the Christiano Brothers I checked it out. I Loved it, was amazed at the wholesome and deep teachings this film brought, not only to young children, but adults also. VERY GOOD and a must see for families on how to reach out to those around us. Teaches witnessing, forgiveness and presents the Gospel amazingly. Recommended!!!!!

A very good family movie. In my opinion Rich Christiano has a classic movie here. The actors were all great.
