It is small, lightweight and easy to use, yet it fails when put to the test

Originally purchased this product because I thought it would be handy to have a portable sewing machine that I could take with me and use away from home for eIt is small, lightweightmergency situations. While I do like the size and ease of use, I am disappointed with how it will not lock the stitches, once you are finished sewing your materials together you have to be extremely careful when removing the machine, otherwise your new stitches will pull out very easily and then you have to start over, I am also disappointed with its lack of power, if you are sewing light weight shirt or Jersey types of materials together, it well sew through easily, anything heavier and it bogs down, it simply does not have the power. Sometimes while away from home and when a full size sewing machine is not available, having a simple spool of thread and a needle is still the best way to go.

Not as Easy as it Seems!

I do a lot of stitching and hemming so I figured Handy Stitch would be a big help for small sewing task. It's actually harder to use than it would seem. I wish it was easy to use right out of the box, but I don't know how to use a standard size sewing machine, and this small mechanical version seems as complicated for a sewing novice like me. I do believe in time I will learn to use it with little difficulty, but for now I have some practicing to do before I actually use it to do serious stitching. I'd recommend it as a gadget to have around the house for light sewing jobs.

do not buy

I thought it would be great for little jobs where I wouldn't have to drag out my heavy sewing machine. However, I could never got my Handy Stitch to work properly. It just wouldn't stitch up what I was trying to sew. It either put in a set of stitches that could easily be pulled back out or it stitched but never put out any thread. I soon gave up on it completely

Gets the job done

Decided to buy, because it looks a lot faster than hand stitching, which it is. Took a while to figure out how to get it to work. Followed all instructions to the letter, but still was unable to get to stitch. When assembling needle, make sure it is not too far in. If it is it won't stitch. Once assembled works pretty good so far. Stitch does not stay that well in jeans, but works good on softer material.

Thought this looked like a good idea and would be easy to use. Never could figure out how to make it work. I'll stick to mending by hand!
