Movie synopsis

A celebration of the life of Tejano princess Selena Quintanilla Perez, the rising star who was gunned down by the president of her own fan club in 1995. Amid the racial tensions and economic hardships of 1980's South Texas, the daughter of a Mexican immigrant (himself a failed doo-wop singer) grows up to be a sensation in the blossoming Tejano scene before meeting a tragic end. Light on insight, this biopic revels rather in Selena's on-stage achievements. Selena's father is credited as an executive producer to the film.

This movie was bought as a gift, but I have seen it on TV. I felt it was well done, had a great story line and Jennifer Lopez shines. All the acting was good and I enjoyed it. Sad though, that such a talented and young life was wasted. However at least she left us with some great hits embedded in our hearts, and I know she would have been a real big star here in the U.S.A. I certainly have a few favorites. God bless Selena and her family....

i have been longing to find this dvd since ive wanted it since i was kid, and when i finally found it i was excited and could not wait to watch it !! this 2disc edition is great i love the movie and having both options of and extended disc and the original disc is great also !! very happy with the product/movie definitely recommened especially for the hispanic/latino cultured personnel.

I decided to buy this movie because during a hispanic fair held at my daughters school I saw a memorial board for Selena. I tried explaining it to my 7 year old daughter but she didn't understand. So I thought that if maybe she saw the movie she would have a better sense of what a great artist she really was and what a loss to the music world. We both cried like crazy at the end of the movie. Needless to say she loved the movie and now listens to the CD's that I have.

This DVD is a great way to remember how talented and beautiful Selena was. Shows her family's journey to Stardom! Excellent acting by Jennifer Lopez as Selena.

This 10th anniversary re-release has several deleted scenes. The film comes in two discs. This is a must have for any Selena fan or collector.
