Keep The Laughs Coming For A 2nd Round Of Mischief!!
Created: 29/03/09
I first saw this movie with some friends from work. This film is jam-packed with hidden tongue-in-cheek jokes and visual humor - there is so much detail. This film is a delight for young children to the senior set and everyone in between.
Eddie Murphy is back as the lovable Donkey - he is perfect in this role and personally, I think he (Donkey) should have his own spin-off movie. This one character is a movie unto himself.
Joining the crew from the original Shrek installment are Julie Andrews (Fiona's mother), John Cleese (her father), Antonio Banderas (Puss-n-Boots) and Jennifer Saunders (the naughty Fairy Godmother).
The clever ways in which the screenwriters twisted the fairytale characters while still giving them reverence and respect is enough to make you cry from laughing so hard. There are inferences to movies such as "Flashdance" and "Mission Impossible" and many others. Pinnocchio is no doubt a wooden embodiment of Michael Jackson (high-pitched voice, good dancer, longs to be a little boy, etc.) and there are many inferences to famous people... there is even a helicopter view of police chasing a white bronco!
There were very few moments in this film in which I was not laughing outloud or doubled-over - and in those few instances, it was to catch my breath.
This film is an instant classic that is safe to show to your kids and grandkids from now until generations to come.
On top of the fantastic animation and lovable characters, the underlying story is an awesome theme to teach to children: it's not how you look or how other people treat you that matters - it's the content of your character and how much you love others. A SOLID MOVIE To add to your DVD collection!!

Shrek II

Our grumpy hero Shrek, voiced by Mike Myers, is married to his ogress-bride Fiona (Cameron Diaz) and the loquacious donkey (Eddie Murphy) is still making himself a nuisance. Shrek has to visit his uptight parents-in-law, voiced by Julie Andrews and John Cleese, which necessitates a trip to Fiona's hometown of Far, Far Away, which turns out to be an LA-style paradise of palm trees and stretch fairy carriages. Jennifer Saunders plays a fairy godmother who's up to no good. Perhaps this sequel no longer has the shock of the new, but the animation is stupendous, with breathtaking effects of light and detail, the gags come thick and fast and the musical numbers are uproarious.

It is nice to see a sequel that is as enjoyable as the first. This movie is great for the entire family as was the first. The story picks up where the first ended and carries the story forward with the same humor. The new characters add to the story and are not merely put in to try to match the original. There are jokes the kids get and jokes for the adults and everyone is delighted for the duration of the movie.
If you liked the first you will be at least as satified with this. Get it for your kids and for yourself.
All of the bonus material included in this DVD is fantastic. The technical goofs are very funny and fun to watch. There are also a great number of games for the kids and sing-a-longs for the kids and the Counting Crows video from the theme song. The Far Far Away Idol is great and very funny. The bonus stuff is alone worth the price of the purchase.

Puss In Boots

This is a great movie. I enjoyed the first Shrek movie so I had to see Shrek 2 on the first day it came out in the theater. I was not disappointed.
The cast, plot, and graphics are great! For cast you get: Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, John Cleese and so many more talented people.
My favorite character has to be Puss In Boots. I'm a big fan of Antonio Banderas, and I was so happy to hear that he was going to do a voiceover for this movie. His moments with Donkey are just hilarious.
This is the perfect movie for any comedy fan. So buy yours today and enjoy! :)

Fun for the Whole family

Just like the first movie, Shrek 2 will be fun for the entire family. This movie picks up where the first left off, and Shrek goes to meet the inlaws. I love these films for the subtle adult humor that allows parents to enjoy the movies right along with their kids. You'll be laughing at the jokes and your kids will want to know what was so funny! I loved Puss in Boots, but then again I'm a softy for cats! Great movie.
