For the better part of 10 years, the classic film series known as "Shrek" has enchanted audiences with its unique characters, and fun-filled imaginative story-telling. Noe, the complete film series is finally brought together in a 5-disc DVD set, "Shrek: The Whole Story". All 4 of the feature films are presented here. The first movie in the series, "Shrek", introduces us to the beloved green ogre, voiced by Mike Myers. He eventually comes in contact with a talking donkey (Eddie Murphy), who accompanies him on an adventure to help save Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from the tower of a fire-breathing dragon. However, Fiona was cursed as a child and turns into an ogress every night, which is why she was locked away in the castle. Shrek and Fiona evntually fall in love and marry. "Shrek 2" takes them to the land of Far Far Away where we meet Fiona's parents King Harold (John Cleese) and Queen Lillian (Julie Andrews). But it is Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) who is trying to break up the marriage. We are also introduced to Puss In Boots (Antonio Banderas). "Shrek The Third" reveals that Fiona is pregnant, which suprises Shrek who believes he won't be a good father and will ruin his child's life. Meanwhile, Charming plots to overthrow Shrek and become king, but this is foiled by Shrek after during the play Charming created is killed. The final chapter, "Shrek Forever After", shows that Shrek has become a domesticated family man, living happily with Princess Fiona and the triplets. Instead of scaring villagers away like he used to, a reluctant Shrek now agrees to autograph pitch forks. Longing for the days when he felt like a "real ogre," Shrek is tricked into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin (Walt Dohrn). The set also contains a 5th DVD: "Donkey's Christmas Shrektacular", a unique disc produced for the 2010 holiday season. The "Shrek" series proves that 21st-century animation can still be just as informative as it is entertaining.

I had only seen the first Shrek before purchasing Shrek:The Whole Story... I thought my daughter might like Shrek so when I saw the box set for a reasoable price I figured why not...?... & in one afternoon we all sat & watched every movie in order, & my daughter loves Shrek now... I figured as with many sequals & what not have you may that each one would be less enjoyable than the first... but it really is a continuation & always has the same flavour as the first Shrek... it all ties together, & keeps one interested from beginning to end... I'm so glad to have this addition to my movie collection, although I do think some of the material used throughout the movies is very adult themed, not so much for children, young children wouldn't catch on, but teenagers could, which is a tough thing to consider, so I'd have to say this is almost more for adults than children, of course Mike Meyers' humor isn't usually child friendly, anywho, it's a personal parent call on those considerations, that a parent should watch it before allowing their children to, anywho... it's not so much a big of a deal, yet should be mentioned, regardless I Loved the movies, & would recommend them to most...

Instead of buying the final movie (I don't really consider it to be the last now though since they are coming out with Puss & Boots now!) I decided to just buy the whole set and I am very happy with my purchase. It takes up half the amount of shelf space as all of the DVDs. I wish that it had the 3D DVD as well as the Christmas DVD on it though.

This is a great buy for the whole family. Shrek is one of my favorite movies and when I found that I can have all movies plus a bonus I had to have them. I had the first and third but having them all again at the great price is a must have my family loves it and watches it over and over.

I was looking for the complete series of Shrek movies for my youngest son for his birthday. He just turned three and has a thing for Donkey. When I saw this complete set of Shrek movies for as cheap as it was, I just couldn't pass it up! Buying this dvd set made my childs birthday the absolute best! Plus, I like the Shrek movies. They remind me of me! :)
