The new lens power layout provides the ultimate correction against lateral chromatic aberration to which digital cameras are prone.Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements control various color aberrations and assure high image quality. A floating focusing system moves two different lens groups in the optical system to different positions. This system compensates for astigmatic aberration and spherical aberration. The HSM models provide ultra quiet high-speed auto focusing as well as full-time manual focus override. | |

) I love this lens. I have a few friends that ask to borrow it any time I am not shooting with it. The backgrounds blur out perfectly when used for head shoots. Bugs, flowers, or anything you want to get close to the 150mm have a bit more reach then a 105mm plus the front doesn't move so the lens doesn't pump air in and out which over time will get dirt into your glass where it can't be cleaned. I have shot with or tested a number of macro lenses and this has got to be one of the best.
