Product description

Product Information
Return to the eerie town of Silent Hill in an all-new story with all-new characters. Players assume the role of James, who receives a cryptic letter from his wife - who has been dead for three years -- beckoning him to meet her in Silent Hill, a place that holds great meaning for the couple. The mystery of the letter frightens and confuses James, compelling him to investigate the surreal horror and all-too-real danger that awaits him.Set amongst the dense fog and haunting darkness of the eerie town, accompanied by dramatic music presented in Dolby Surround, Silent Hill 2 pushes the boundaries of macabre horror. Benefiting from the advanced technological power of the Xbox, the visual expressions of the characters, weather conditions and the charnel-house gore of the game are intensely frightening. Players face over 10 new types of enemies and have access to a variety of new weapons, including a pistol and a steel pipe.

A truly disturbing gaming experience

Created: 09/11/05
"Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams" deviates from the original "Silent Hill" scenario, but maintains (and builds on) the formula of disturbing, story driven, psychological horror that made the original "Silent Hill" an instant survival horror classic. "Silent Hill 2", unlike it's popular horror counterpart, CAPCOM's "Resident Evil" series, isn't an action oriented title, but rather draws the gamer in slowly with an uncommonly deep, and ever-darkening tale, of mystery, horror, lust, murder, insanity, betrayal, guilt and pain. By and large, the best installment of the series (in my opinion), a knowledge of the characters and events of the first "Silent Hill" aren't required to understand the unnerving events of "Restless Dreams". Patience, puzzle solving, keen observation and an acute attention to detail are however.

While the top notch story telling and artistic direction earn "Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams" MY highest rating, it's certainly not for every gamer.

Newcomers to the "Silent Hill" series may find the controls (traditional "human tank" controls, a trademark of the genre) and pacing somewhat sluggish, and the heavy use of simile and metaphor are lost on more casual players. Also, the "Born from a Wish" sub-scenario will undoubtedly confuse those who haven't completed the main game. Novice players may also be put off by the lack of unique enemies that appear in the game.

Serious Game, For Serious Players

Created: 29/01/08
This game series is one of my favorites ever since back in 1999 when I played the first silent hill.

This is the second game in the series, Which I think is one of the better ones. I myself LOVE every silent hill game in the series so far but some are better then others.

List of each game and what I love it for.
1- Creepy Factor
2- Gameplay
3- Soundtracks
4- Visuals
5- Unreleased

So thats basically the list. This game has the best gameplay out of the series besides number 3. If you are a collector or just truly love silent hill games or even just survival horror games.

PICK THIS UP. I promise you, that you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Unlockables, Great storyline, Good Graphics, Will work on the xBox 360, Just an overall great game!

Cons: Some intense violence. If you do not like Violent video games, I do not recommend this to you, personally I think the violence belongs. It is part of the backstory and it flows very well with the gameplay.

did not meet expectations

 | No, I would not recommend this product.

I had heard this game was the best/scariest horror game ever, so i had to see for myself. I played it for awhile, but could never find where to go. I had to use a walkthrough to figure out anything, and i felt like all i was doing was looking for keys to open doors to no where. The only good part was the cinematics. The story was interesting, and cinematic quuality was good, but it was not worth the agervation of having absolutely no idea of what to do next.

Good game, but dragging

Created: 09/09/08
This game was very very good. What I liked best about it was the soundtrack. If you don't want the game, I highly recommend getting the soundtrack. Everything about the game was scary in a strange way. Instead of having some zombie eat your face off suddenly (Like a sudden scare), you would enter a basement that was actually a morgue that was covered in...dolls? It's disorienting. This kind of scare though isn't for the violence loving people though. There are not too many weapons, and there are also not too many action scenes. It is mostly solving puzzles and listening to a really great story. This game is for people who are not in a hurry to be thrilled.

GREAT!

This is a great game from Konami! The XBOX version has a lot of improvements in graphics and new places to visit. So this version is better than ps2 and one classic from survival horror game.
