A Great WW2 Sub Game

Created: 20/12/07
Silent Hunter 3 is a great WW2 sub game game.
You have complete freedom to roam the oceans of the Atlantic and sink enemy ships. Don't like your assigned patrol zone? No problem....just disobey the order and sail where you want to. The game gives you a choice of a weapons officer ai or if you like you can calculate your torpedo runs manually (I prefer the ai). Watch out for enemy planes and destroyers. The game I bought only came with a CD so there is a small hassle in figuring out some aspects of the game. If you like the genre of WW2 german subs, then this is a MUST game to buy...

very realistic, game has some graphics issues, but all in all good simulation. a little slow to load, maybe more complex than it needs to be. aerial gunnery is not very realistic, should score more hits in reality. type 7 u-boats dive in less than 17 seconds, simulation doesn't show this. type 7 u-boats had the fastest dive of any ww2 sub.

Finally a good sub game!!

Created: 06/02/08
I've been looking for a good sub game (regardless of platform) since Nintendo's Silence service in the late 80's. I even (sort of) liked the Silent Service for PC in the early 90's, but it was average. NOW THIS GAME prompted me to BUY ALL THE SILENT HUNTER GAMES! I don't think I should have popped this in first but I have to say i was blown away by graphics alone. Controls and operation are a bit overwhelming, but i have to read and get use to. A great WW2 game. BUY IT!

This is a great submarine game with lots of options.

I love the free range of this game, and being able to go anywhere to "hunt" for for ships. This game makes you feel like you are in total control of the sub, because you can manage every aspect of its operations. There are two things though that I do not like. The first is that when you save and exit a game you do not get to start out exactly where you stop at, it makes you start back at the docks even if you are in a battle. The second is that if you are using the deck gun to shoot at a ship, and lets say that the ship is 3000 meters out if you switch screens you loose the range that you had and it goes back down to 500 meters. Besides that it is a great game.
