Great Movie ..... Must See ....... Based on Stephen King's novella CYCLE OF THE WEREWOLF, SILVER BULLET concerns a small mountain community terrorized by a half-man/half-beast of folklore. After an encounter with the murderous werewolf, wheelchair-bound Marty Coslaw (Corey Haim) becomes saddled with the unfortunate knowledge of the beast's human alter ego. With some help from his sister (Megan Follows), his goodhearted alcoholic uncle (Gary Busey), and his turbo-charged wheelchair, he sets out to rid the town of the murderous scourge. King also wrote the screenplay.

"Great 80's Horror!"

Gary Busey, Corey Haim, Megan Follows and Everett McGill
star in this 1985 horror film based on Stephen King's book.
A crippled kid discovers that a town's killer is a werewolf.
I've always liked this film and this dvd has decent picture
and sound, but no extras. I recommend this great 80's
horror film.

One of Stephen King's earliest and best. This 1985 film successfully blends horror, humour, and heart. Corey Haim (The Lost Boys) is excellent as Marty, a handicapped boy who struggles with a jealous sister, doting mother, and his alcoholic uncle Red, portrayed splendidly by Gary Busey (The Buddy Holly Story). When a series of mysterious murders take place in their sleepy home town of Tarkers Mill, Marty and his sister, along with Uncle Red find themselves swept up in a horror straight from their worst nightmares. This is a great film you'll want to own to watch again and again. I highly recommend it. Suitable for ages 12 and up. Violence, strong language, and adult themes. Great date flick. I give it an A+

Nightmare Material - Needs Popcorn

The direction and the acting in this one really put it over. I had forgotten what a fun scary movie this was. Gary Busey, Corey Haim, and Megan Follows did a great job. Corey Haim is convincing as the kid in a wheelchair and Megan Follows as the slightly bossy older sister. Watched it with my grandchildren - scared our socks off! On the downside - probably a little gorier (is that really a word!) than it needed to be.

I first saw this movie when it was shown on cable back in the mid 80s. I was immediately enthralled and frightened by it. I watch it every chance I get now. I've read the story that it's based on many times over. I've been a Stephen King fan since I was 14 years old. Corey Haim, Gary Busey and Everett McGill make this one hell of a film and McGill's dual role as Reverend Lester Lowe and the werewolf is bad ass! If you haven't seen this film, and you enjoy a good scare, watch it after dark.
