    Movie synopsis

THE SIMPSONS MOVIE may not qualify for the honor of "Best. Movie. Ever," but even the harshest critics like Comic Book Guy will find little to dislike in this hilarious comedy. Springing from Fox's hit series, the movie expands the adventures of the Springfield residents into a feature-length film. Here Homer's selfish antics (and a hankering for free donuts) are responsible for a horrific ecological disaster that could spell the end for Springfield. So it's up to the paunchy patriarch to save his family and the town from the mess that he has created.Just as in the Emmy-winning show, THE SIMPSONS MOVIE skillfully combines smart satire with inspired silliness. Dan Castellaneta, Harry Shearer, Hank Azaria, and other regulars of the series provide laughs with their vocal talents, while Albert Brooks is hilarious as the film's villain. Though THE SIMPSONS MOVIE is best seen after a lifetime of watching reruns of the show and repeating its endlessly quotable lines, viewers don't have to be die-hard fans to get the jokes. Screenwriters Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, and Co. are at the top of their game here, channeling the show at its best. The film comes after 18 seasons of the series, but it's certainly more in the spirit (and quality) of the show's best years.

    Homer Does It Again

    Created: 03/03/08
Homer has long been the life of The Simpsons, although early in the show's success it seemed that Bart was the main character. Bart got the main bits in Butterfinger adds, and he had the catch phrases on the T-shirts like "Cowabunga", "Eat My Shorts", and so on. Over the course of the show, Homer has done some of the dumbest things known to mankind. His character has thus been transferred to the feature movie format, and he is again in the spotlight.

Because of his love for donuts, he puts the town of Springfield in an Armageddon type of situation. Then he and the family escape to Alaska only to return to try to save town. Along the way are numerous funny adventures that'll leave all family members laughing.

What I liked the most about this movie is that pretty much every character gets involved and at least has a line or two in the picture. This movie is excellent and is definitely a must see for fans of the show. It's fun, dumb, and intelligent all at the same time. Exactly what a comedy is supposed to be.

    The Simpsons Movie fall flat

    Created: 04/02/08
I enjoyed the start of the Simpsons Movie but too soon lost interest. It just did not capture the essence of the tv program that I've come to enjoy. The pig story was not interesting. I had a difficult time getting into the story line involving the pig.

    A dud.

    Fun fact.....

    Created: 11/01/08
A running joke throughout the series is that no one knows where Springfield is. The writers are always coming up with ways to keep the audience guessing. Some examples of this are: in 'Sunday, Cruddy Sunday' when Marge phones the egg painting company and gives her address, she says, "742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield Ohi...", then cuts out to say, "Oh hiya Maude!" to Maude Flanders, who suddenly appears in the kitchen. When Homer and Bart are off to the Edison Museum in 'The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace' they drive past a sign with exits to New Jersey, Michigan and Oregon, none of which are close to each other. When Larry Burns spots Mr. Burns on the train, he asks where the train is going. The conductor says, "Springfield." and Burns asks, "Springfield where?", but the conductor's reply is drowned out by the train's engine.

Good price for the item offered and condition. I already had bought a new dvd but my kids ruined it by leaving it everywhere but since that is still their favorite movie, I decided to go ahead and buy a used one for them.
