Personnel: Eric Church (vocals); Merle Haggard (vocals); Jay Joyce (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, keyboards, bass guitar); Bryan Sutton (acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin); Kenny Greenberg (electric guitar); Mark Hill (bass instrument); Craig Wright (drums, cajon drums).With song like "These Boots" and "Pledge Allegiance To The Hag," Eric Church clearly aligns himself with the honky-tonk Bakersfield Sound school of country music, and his rustic twang of a voice is similarly pure country. There are several commercial Nashville touches to this debut as well, like the hip-hop-inspired drum loop that powers the opening track "Before She Does" and the Big 'N' Rich country-rock of the first single "How 'Bout You." Overall, however, Church's heart is in the roadhouse, not the strip mall.

) I saw Eric Church open up a show for Bob Seger in Cleveland. I was impressed with Church's rockin' country sound even though it seemed a bit odd to me to have a country act opening up for a rock icon like Seger. I was impressed enough to buy Church's CD and like it alot, too. The sounds comes off even more "countryish" on the CD, so pure rockers might want to stay away from this. I lean more to the rock side of things, but enjoy a dose of blues or country influence, too. I like the stories that he tells in the songs and the music is well played. I can see why this young artist that is relatively new to the country scene is enjoying quite a bit of success at this time.

) Great CD, one of my all time favorites. Hard to find such honesty in modern country. Church's songs are genuine and meaningful. Although he's a newer artist, he has the edge is his voice that reminds you of someone from an earlier time. If you like Eric Church, I would also recommend Ray Scott and Jake Owen.

I enjoy listening to this CD - I was able to see Eric Church at a local venue for a Can-Fest with several other artist and now I have the opportunity to listen to him everyday. Eric has a way of detailing real life moments and creating a great song. Would recommend this to anyone.
Rockin' Country

Saw Eric in concert and was hooked and had never heard of him before. This music is just right for the times. Eric's music is rock but with the lyrics that makes every country bumpkin' feel good.

I like it. I bought it because of the song "Two Pink Lines". However, I wish there were more songs I would like.
