Amazing series, less than amazing box set.

If it weren't for the fact that one fourth of the DVDs have been glitchy so far -and I'm in the middle of the third season. I haven't been able to prompt myself to go further due to the disappointment each time I come across a glitchy disk.- I'd give it an excellent review. It is, in my honest opinion, the greatest television drama of all time. I can't imagine anything being able to surpass the depth in plot, character, and philosophical/religious exploration. The disks, themselves are not scratched in any way, there are just a bunch that don't play. An episode will begin and then it will stop. And nothing you do to try to get it to play will work. I was advised to take them to be buffed, but I don't think I should have to in the first place, and I don't suspect that will work either since the disks aren't actually scratched.
I loaned the first season to my girlfriend before even finishing it, myself, and she was the one who notified me of the fact that the last couple of disks of the first season wouldn't play. For someone like her, who has never seen the entire series, this is devastating. She wants to move on to the second season, but she doesn't want to miss anything from the first. And in a series like this, each episode is crucial to understanding the development of the characters and the plot. I'm not satisfied with this purchase. As far as I'm concerned, I paid for a faulty product that I'll get little use out of. I'll probably wind up buying a second set somewhere else for more money. (I'm not even convinced this wasn't some sort of boot-leg, to be honest.)

A Must-See Series In a Perfect Package
Created: 13/05/07
I can't recommend this box-set to those of you who have already purchased individual seasons of "Six Feet Under", but to those of you who have never seen an episode (or don't own more than two seasons) I say "buy"... or maybe "buy now". Alan Ball's series is one of the best things to happen to television in the new millennium, setting a story-telling standard that few shows have since matched. While certain episodes lag and characters occasionally wind up repeating themselves ad nauseam, you will be too invested in the lives of the Fisher family to notice. Laughs, chills, screams, tears (especially toward the end) - "Six Feet Under" has it all. Excellent.

The Ultimate SFU Collection!
Created: 10/06/10
If you were ever a fan of this HBO Series, this Collection is a MUST HAVE! If you're not - get with the program! Pick a Saturday or Sunday when you have no plans, insert Season 1, Disc 1 and hit PLAY. I promise you'll be hooked for the day! You simply can't turn it off. We found this series addicting from the first episode that aired, and we followed it every week up until the very last episode. Like "The Soprano's," this Series was an absolute Masterpiece from HBO - and Alan Ball is a genius! For those not familiar, he's the creative force behind HBO's latest winner "True Blood."
The way the Series is packaged is fantastic, the box can fix on the shelf with your other DVD's (no big, gaudy decorative storage box), and when you're itching for an episode, just pull it down and pop one in.
WARNING: If you haven't seen the final episode before, make sure you've got plenty of Kleenex. It's a real tear-jerker!

Six Feet Under Series DVD w/ Extras
Created: 06/07/09
I love Six Feet Under, so I'm a little partial. The Fisher family and all their friends/family/employees etc. are all very well cast. Even though a funeral home might seem a little bland to most, this series is nothing short of addicting and riveting. It's emotionally charged, but it's characters are so down-to-earth and real-life that I find it hard to believe that anyone could dislike this series.
The Boxed Set has music from some of series, as well as a book that dates the deaths of all the characters. BE CAREFUL, if you haven't watched the series, don't check out the book. You'll ruin some of the best surprises for yourself.
I recommend this series to anyone who has a sense of humor. It's a little twisted, but once you watch the first episode, there is no turning back.
It's gripping, compelling, and the last episode, it's a real emotional roller coaster, of the best kind.
Check it out. You're doing yourself a dis-service if you don't.

The series Six Feet Under it's amazingly breath-taking!
Created: 20/05/09
The series Six Feet Under is a lighter look at the seemingly dark side of death.
An ostensibly average family has grown up in a funeral home...all the characters are unique. There is everything in this series you could ever ask for in a show. There is drama, suspense, happiness, sorrow, anger, joy; it really allows you to question your own existence, to step back & take a look at your life. Words can not accurately describe this show, but I have tried.
