Synopsis
The frank, "get real" approach of this diet book may be just right for those who have tried and tried without success to lose weight and keep it off. As the title indicates, the language is salty as Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin tell readers just what they must get rid of in their everyday eating: sugar first, followed by meat and dairy. Freedman and Barnouin recommend a vegan lifestyle, and tell why, and then offer more than 75 recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacking. They help readers break through the mental denial about bad food habits, and offer responsible and fun food choices without denying cravings and appetite.

Publisher's Note
Not your typical boring diet book, this is a tart-tongued, no-holds-barred wakeup call to all women who want to be thin. With such blunt advice as, "Soda is liquid Satan" and "You are a total moron if you think the Atkins Diet will make you thin," it's a rallying cry for all savvy women to start eating healthy and looking radiant. Unlike standard diet books, it actually makes the reader laugh out loud with its truthful, smart-mouthed revelations. Behind all the attitude, however, there's solid guidance. Skinny Bitch espouses a healthful lifestyle that promotes whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, and encourages women to get excited about feeling "clean and pure and energized."

Skinny Vegan Bitch

Created: 24/02/10
I bought the book knowing exactly what it was about. The books gives a false sense that it deals with diets and exercise help when in reality its main goal is trying to get people from eating meat and all animal related foods such as eggs, milk etc. The book trys to tell you all the negatives and I think the title is a bit misleading.

I'm a vegetarian already but I was told what it was about prior to purchasing it. Lots of friends have been disappointed since they have no plans what se ever to stop eating meat.
The book basically tells you if you want to be a skinny bitch u have to STOP eating meat, dairy and sugar..... period.

Not Such a Skinny Bitch After All

Created: 09/02/09
So to cut a long story short, the authors admit towards the end that they really aren't promoting bitchiness or skinniness at all - but instead are promoting a healthy lifestyle. So to do this, they encourage ridding your diet of soda (it's the devil afterall!), coffee (another satanic beverage), refined products like sugar, flour, and bread (go for the whole grains!), no meat (this seems to be the far fetched of this book but they make a very clear argument regarding pesticides, hormones, as well as ethical reasons), and always eating fruits for breakfast!

I thought this book was very well-written, with lots of wit and many jokes to help speed through it. I feel I learned alot about being healthier and I am much more aware of what food I am allowing to enter my body. I feel it easier to do one step at a time and not to go cold turkey with everything they suggest but instead make it a slow process of change towards a wholesome healthy life. I like that the girls use research studies as well as citations from phD's and dr's to help prove their points. I chose to buy this book because I had heard so many great things about it! In which I truly recommend this book as well!! :)

Skinny Bitch "lifestyle"

Created: 18/06/08
What I liked- These women are very straightforward when it comes to making their point. I LOVE that. They did not "sugar coat" anything- no pun intended!
They also blow the whistle on our government agencies that are supposed to protect us while they are really just lining their own pockets without regard to our health.

What I didn't like- I do not agree with a total vegan diet. They are 100% against all animal products. I believe if you are smart about what types and sources of animal products you choose, you can still be a "skinny bitch."

I bought the book because I heard it was a good book. I also and tired of being an overweight woman and needed a little bit of a pep talk to get me inspired to do something about the food I eat.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is ready for a change in food choices, and who is also strong enough to be be insulted like a new recruit at basic training. They do it in a very amusing way!

The skinny on Skinny Bitch

Created: 27/03/09
Hi all!
I bought Skinny Bitch after reading a friend's. It's an over-the-top expose about the horrors of our lovely national food industry. The girls discuss the hypocrisies our government institutions like the FDA, the foul business (pun intended) of the majority of meat processing plants and so on. They are loud mouthed and vulgar, and equally hilarious, so if you can't take it, don't pick this up.
Their goal is to convert us to veganism, and if you can't go that far, at least a vegetarian lifestyle. As outrageous as the book may seem, every page is heavily footnoted with a corresponding list of well-researched documents in the back. This is not emotional hoopla, it's science.
The best part of the book is that the girls outline a lifestyle and they are very kind, honest, well-wishing yet not preachy about it. They are totally grounded and not crazy hippy freaks ;-)
If you don't care to give up meat, at least read it for the political information so you know what really goes on in our country's food supply chain.
READ it! It's FUN!
Changed my life forever..
Cherie

Ok, I just read what some of you wrote and I'm compelled to add on...
WHERE IS YOUR HUMOR PEOPLE?????? If you can't laugh at yourself and if you don't have a sarcastic bone in your body then, please, spare your tender little self the agony of reading this book. It's not bullying, it's an attempt to tease us out of our lazy way of eating. Be tough.
And - after reading Skinny Bitch I have further researched (not just the books they recommend) several other sources to see if Skinny Bitch nutrition info is accurate, and I can say - no morons here - it's sound information. You may not LIKE it, but it's sound. I'm no longer skeptical.

Skinny Bitch

I bought this book because I read a news paper article on the book when it first came out. I saw it on ebay and decided to bid on it.
It is a good book. Like it states a no-nonsense tough-love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous. It offers great information on being vegan and that alone helps one loose weight. This book may offend some people but it is part of the tough love and to some people it will get thier attention much quicker. I have lost weight with help of books like Skinny Bitch and I say thumbs up to people who want to purchase this book.
Thank you for having it on Ebay!!!
