The Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit (DVD, 2002, 3-Disc Set)

This boxed set contains the SLEEPAWAY CAMP trilogy, a series that began with a movie that has unfairly been lumped in with 1980s slasher movies like FRIDAY THE 13TH and others of its ilk. However, SLEEPAWAY CAMP is truly the work of a twisted mind and largely devoid of the two staples of the genre, gratuitous nudity and gore, eschewing them in favor of hints of incest, transsexuality, and homoeroticism, creating a far more disturbing atmosphere. Its sequels, however, are a different story. They are, in fact, somewhat standard 1980s fare and as such offer up lots of gratuitous nudity, bad haircuts, worse dialog, and a number of celebrity siblings in starring roles (Pamela Springsteen, Renee Estevez) that help make them entertaining in their own right.
