    Movie synopsis

Here's a gooey, hilarious, creepy horror film for the whole mutant cannibal family. Michael Rooker (HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER) stars as Grant, a big bald guy from a small southern town who gets possessed by a meat-hungry parasite worm creature from space. Even under the alien influence he still loves his wife, Starla (Elizabeth Banks), but she's alarmed at his weird new habits, such as consuming all the local wildlife. The sheriff in town (Nathan Fillion) investigates. He still carries a torch for Starla from when they were kids, but once the squirming, slithering, and cannibalism begin in earnest, it becomes clear that this is no time for romance. SLITHER's combination of interesting characters, deadpan humor, gore aplenty, and genuine scares earns it a place alongside cult classics like RE-ANIMATOR and the various LIVING DEAD and EVIL DEAD films. Director/writer James Gunn wrote 2004's DAWN OF THE DEAD before this, and it's abundantly clear where his loyalties lie: SLITHER aims its acid-dripping, brain-sucking tongue right into the hearts of horror fans. Heads explode, monsters squiggle into gaping mouths, tentacles wrap around Banks's negligee-clad body, and the sheriff takes it all in his stride. There's even a twisted intergalactic love story somewhere in the chaos, as well as hordes of in-jokes for the fans.

    Movie trailer and editorial reviews

"Gunn lovingly hacks up the whole horror-comedy genre with the giddily disgusting tale..." -- Grade: B+
Entertainment Weekly - Lisa Schwarzbaum (04/07/2006)

"[W]hat makes it work is how nimbly it slaloms from yucks to yuks, slip-sliding from horror to comedy and back again on its gore-slicked foundation."
New York Times - Manohla Dargis (04/11/2006)

"SLITHER is a throwback to the playful, squishy, slightly queasy-making horror films of the 1980s..."

And You Thought That You've Been Taken Over by Slugs?

    Created: 10/05/09
The only thing that I can easily remember good coming out of 2006 was this movie. To say the least, it was high time that someone really epitomized the essence of a good Alien Bodysnatcher movie. Well, this is the one. When Alien broke ground in the late 70's, most people had never been so terrified before in their lives. Up until that time maybe Jaws was the scariest monster movie out there.

Slither takes a stab right at the movies that never try to encapsulate the pure evil of organisms infesting humans. These things thrive inside of a human long enough to get bigger and multiply and then they move on into another host. If you have a weak stomach or don't like to feel disturbed about alien invasions, then do not watch this movie. This was Rated R for Strong Horror, Violence and Gore and some Language.

Nathan Fillion and Elizabeth Banks did remarkably well in holding this movie together while Director James Gunn has moved in to the Horror Hall of Fame forever more for this one.

Check Out the GAG reel as well. You will certainly squirm out of your chair or bed on this one. 5 out of 5.

    Instant Cult Classic!!!

    Created: 22/10/06
Although the plot feels like it has been done before, 'Slither' stills feels original in the fact that it has never been done like this. Aliens take over but in the most grotesque way imaginable. WARNING!!! You may want to have an empty stomach before watching because the effects are done really well and are quite disturbing at times. The cast does a solid job but Nathan Fillion steals the show with his quick one-liners and humorous attitude. The story is predictable though & there are not many surprises besides the amount of disgusting scenes. But any horror or alien invasion fan should enjoy this movie. Good enough to buy but you should probably check it out first. Must see film. 4/5

    Differen't But Good

    Created: 30/01/07
This is a different't kind of movie. It is a Horror movie but at the same time it is also a comedy at least I thought so. It is about it aliens trying trying to take over, and they have to enter the human body through the mouth to be able to do so, but anyway the people who are not taken over by what are suppose to be alien creatures are fighting to stay alive, and they have to try,and kill the main Slither Alien which is the first guy thats body was invaded. The Slither creatures look like big oversized slithering tongues in my opinion that is what they look like. I believe most people will enjoy this movie, and I recommend it highly for anyone who enjoys horrors but also likes a good laugh every now, and then. I am into collection Horror Movie and I have this one in my collection, and I give this movie 1 and 1/2 thumbs up.
