    Album Notes
The Doors: Jim Morrison (vocals); Robby Krieger (guitar, background vocals); Ray Manzarek (keyboards); John Densmore (drums).Additional personnel: Jesse McReynolds (mandolin); Jimmy Buchanan (fiddle); Champ Webb (English horn); Curtis Amy (saxophone); George Bohannan (trombone); Harvey Brooks, Doug Lubahn (bass); Reinol Andino (conga).Recorded at Elektra Sound Recorders, Los Angeles, California. The Doors: Jim Morrison (vocals); Robby Krieger (guitar); Ray Manzarek (keyboards); John Densmore (drums).Dismissed by the benighted as the Doors' "pop album," SOFT PARADE is one of the band's most adventurous recordings, utilizing strings and horns without resorting to schlocky over-production and moving far beyond their blues roots. Morrison was fully into his shaman phase by 1969, and his obsession with that image is reflected in the proselytizing air of "Tell All the People," and of course "Shaman's Blues." The album's biggest hit "Touch Me," while easily the group's most radio-friendly offering, is a pop classic that ranks among the great '60s AM radio tunes. "Wild Child" is a brief return to the blues-rock of yore, but the title track is a sophisticated, extended piece that moves through several different moods and textures, full of the elliptical, poetic lyrics that were Morrison's trademark.

    Poetic Side of Jim

This CD shows the SOFT, poetic style of Jim that many of us fell in love with. Talented man that was loved by more than he knew. Wild Child is my fav on this but I still think this is a MUST HAVE to add that extra sound to any Doors collection!

    The Soft Parade, Good Album

    Created: 28/05/08
I got this album for English class and I am also a religious Doors fan. This CD is not their most popular one, yet it is the one at the height of the Doors career. Many don't like it because of the use of brass and string, but I feel that this different sound makes The Doors a flexible musical artist.

Haters knock this C.D. but to me it's top of the line

    Created: 15/07/09
I have been on a full Doors kick for a month or so. I decided to purchase each and every studio album that was released. According to Allmusic dot com this is a terrible C.D. I completely disagree. To me, this C.D. completely sets the tone for the mindset of the band, and where they came from. The wonderful thing about this C.D. and each Doors C.D. is they weren't afraid to try new things. As a 3 piece band....can you imagine this?!? The amount of tracks that exist is amazing. This C.D. is no other....

The Soft Parade Has Now Begun

     | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Some say there was too many horns and orchestration on this album, but to me these addition only made the album that much better. Got it mainly for the title song, The Soft Parade. I've had the original album since it first came out and am still in love with it. Only the Doors can mix it up with circus music, country music, rock etc.. and still pull off an excellent sound. If your a Doors fan this one is a must get.
