    Album Notes
Although Al Caiola is a fine jazz guitarist, he has also had extensive experience as a session player on Muzak dates. Many of his older albums fall into categories ranging from easy-listening jazz to schlocky mood music. This CD reissue has 16 selections drawn from three Time albums: Soft Guitars, The Music of George Gershwin and Guitars of Plenty. Some numbers find Caiola joined by a rhythm section, and those are restrained and lightly swinging, but the ones with an orchestra are so corny as to be barely listenable. At best, this is strictly background music. ~ Scott Yanow
