Soldier of Fortune (also known as SoF) is a first-person shooter game created by Raven Software and published by Activision on March 27, 2000 for Microsoft Windows. It uses a modified Quake II engine. It was later released on the Sony PlayStation 2 as well as the Sega Dreamcast. Loki Software also made a port for Linux. Based on its success, Raven Software and Activision later published Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix in 2002 based on the Quake III: Team Arena engine. Soldier of Fortune is one of the most fun and addictive games I have ever played. It has a terrific plot and the maps and locations that you fight in are awesome. Some games you just blow your way through, but in SOF you also have to use your brain to get places. The graphics are awesome considering that the game was made in 2000 and the weapons are realistically accurate and powerful.
Over all this game is a great way blow a couple of days and do nothing.

RAMBO wannabe? Here's your ticket!

These computer programmers pulled out all the stops on this game. It's so incredibly violent that is breaks more boundaries than the world map has lines. The enemies react according to where you shoot them. The blood stains on the wall are a function of how much explosive you use and where you put it. Body parts will fly. Blood will splatter. And it's all wrapped into a package that makes YOU the good guy. The levels can be so challenging that you almost HAVE to use cheats. I think the programmers WANTED us to cheat. The software is a bit older, but that doesn't make too much difference. You're too busy killing and blowing stuff up to care. The story line is quite narrow. The interactive world is limited. The time and money was spent on pure carnage. Grab a beer. Tell the ol' lady to go watch Oprah. Turn up the volume, and get ready to make Rambo look like a pussy.
