Somewhere in Time..timeless love story!
Created: 10/11/08
This is my all time favorite love story..and has proven to be a similar enchantment to many others as well as myself. It has developed a fan club that still celebrates this movie many years later.
The storyline takes place in the early 19th century. The Grand Hotel was the stage in an era when live plays traveled the country. Beautiful costumes and elegance representative of this style are staged beautifully in this movie. The music completes this drama in a way you will not forget.
This speaks of a love of two people that crosses barriers of time. A young man (Christopher Reeves) spots a portrait of a famous old time actress (Jane Seymour)in a small theatrical museum. He soon becomes obsessed with her smiling face in a way he cannot explain. As he investigates her life he suddenly realizes he had met her before.
The twist is that he is in the current generation and she was from a few generations before. How they find one another again is the most touching and beautiful experience that proves that love is much more flexible, and enduring than the hands of time.
If you have a sentimental heart..Do not miss this one. It is a love story you will never forget.

Somewhere in Time

This video is special to my family due to the fact that it was filmed in Michigan on Mackinac Island. My children grew up in Michigan and Mackinac Island was a special place that we visited during their childhood.
As my son grew up he appreciated the plot, where the star, Christopher Reeve, as Richard Collier, finds a portrait of a beautiful woman in the hotel (Jane Seymour as Elise McKenna)where he is staying and being mesmerized by it, researches its origins to the point of being determined to find a way to meet the woman in the picture, although it was taken over sixty years ago. The concept of finding your true love in a different time period, then succeeding at time travel to reach her was fascinating to him.
We own a VHS tape of the movie, but decided that we wanted a more permanent version of the film on DVD. I had purchased another copy of this movie on DVD through another web site and to my dismay, was upset to learn that it was the European format and I was not able to play it on my DVD player, or return it! In the listing this was NOT mentioned. I turned to ebay for reliable descriptions, and honest sellers.
The movie is entertaining and thought provoking, and my family and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Instead of your usual time machines, this movie takes you on a journey into the portals of time through one man's mind. Not only do you feel Richard's excitement about traveling into the past, but you share the emotions of the chemistry between Chris Reeve and Jane Seymour. A beautiful and classic love story at best of a man who risked his life in the present to find true love over 60 years earlier.

Best cuddle in your blanket with tissue paper movie
Created: 17/10/06
This movie stars Christopher Reed and Jane Seymore in their early days. Christopher Reeve is still in Superman form.
This movie is about a play writer who is visited by an old woman who asks him to return to her. He is given a pocket watch which he holds onto but puts in the back of his mind.
After getting writers block he decides to take a vacation and clear his head. He ends up at a beautiful hotel that draws him in. While wandering the hotel he sees a picture of the old woman and his journey begins to return to her.
This is a powerful love story of want and need and absolute true love that spans time.
You will want a box of tissues and a soft blanket for this one, you won't want to move away from the t.v.

Would You Travel Through Time For Your Soulmate??
Created: 23/02/10
Somewhere in Time is an excellent film that combines Time Travel with romance, using an interesting and unique idea involving hypnotizing your mind to believe you are actually in that moment in history. If you can avoid analyzing the rationality of time travel and suspend your disbelief, this film will be very enjoyable for you. The idea of travelling back through time to find your soulmate is something both men and women can believe in. It is to the credit of the performances of the leads, Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, that the viewer believes that such a thing is possible. Reeve and Seymour also look well together and have obvious chemistry, making their love affair entirely believable. Especially with their first kiss, there is a deep and passionate love that seems entirely real. The third element is the acting of Christopher Plummer, who is always excellent and quite effective here as the overprotective manager of Seymour's character. But, there are two more elements that contributes greatly to the atmposhere of the film - the moving music composed by John Barry, and the Grand Hotel where most of the movie is set. The expressive Reeve, the calm beauty of Seymour, the brooding and calculating Plummer, the romantic and moving music and the timeless presence of the Grand Hotel combine into a magical film for the hopeless romantic.
