Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (Nintendo DS, 2008)

What to say about Dark Brotherhood? Well its an RPG made by bioware that, besides its unorthodox fighting system, is a very basic package. It comes off as a very amateur package all in all. Almost entirely composed of fetch quests, lacking in personality and the feeling of growth necessary in an RPG, and with sound effects that seem to be slapped on randomly, this is a surprisingly weak showing by generally spectacular RPG maker Bioware. They threw their patented speech trees into the game, but besides telling some characters you don't want their furry butts following you around none of your choices seem to make a difference. The biggest pluses for the game are graphics that are vibrant and colorful, if not entirely cohesive, and a battle system that keeps you glued to the screen the whole time. Think Elite Beat Agents meets Final Fantasy. All special attacks and defensive actions are pulled of by a series of taps and drags on the touch screen. This game is only recommended for people who need another Elite Beat Agents fix or need to own every piece of Sonic Software out there. If you want an RPG go for Final Fantasy IV.

This is a strange and fantastic Sonic game. Do not expect the normal Sonic challenge of running toward one side of the screen. This game's storyline is top-notch and invigorating. The battle layout is clean and fun, yet still holds the sort of difficulty that any gamer appreciates. Strategy is mixed in with playable characters whose personalities bounce around with a good deal of background. The idea of incorporating so many characters and fighting moves is genuinely clever. This is one of my favorite games of the year.

I bought this for my nine year old daughter. She says this is her favorite Sonic so far. She has been playing it non-stop. It is very interactive and entertaining. As a matter of fact, we have to limit how much time she can play this game. If you like Sonci, you will like this game!

Sonic is a classic! Any additions to it are simply a plus! He was ahead of his time then & now he's still movin forward. game graphics are good, Sonic is still in control & new characters are fun

I'm a big fan of sonic and love bioware. when i heard a sonic rpg by bioware was in the works i thought there was no way it could be true. but it was and what a great game. it might not be for the hardcore rpg crowd, but even myself who plays a lot of hardcore rpgs enjoyed it, mostly because of my love for sonic and bioware. defiantly worth getting for any fan or anyone who owns a ds and is even the slightest bit interested.
