great things come in threes

the third sonic game fro the genesis. beautiful sound, easier character control and some new powers come into play. For the first time Miles "Tails" Prower can fly on command!!! by far the easiest of the sonic series for the genesis partually due to the save feature. hook it together with sonic and knuckles(this may take a few tries to work properly) and now you can also play as Knuckles!
This is the only game that featured the "super" emeralds that allowed sonic and knuckles to earn a special ability when they transformed into the "Hyper" stage. Also the only game to have a super tails. each of these stages consume two rings a second on the timer so use wisely!!! sonic gets harder to control due to a higher jump and double jump power.oh there are actually different levels of dificulty. easy is with tails alone, meduim is with sonic alone or sonic and tails, and knuckles could be considered a "Hard" mode though there are less bosses to fight and levels to complete. Be warned Knuckles battles are far harder than sonic's or tail's troubles.
this was also the first sonic game that had a traceable story though thre are no speech bubbles or voice audio.
a game that can be beaten within two hours for each set of six levels and replayed to beat the game with all emeralds on your chioce of six, yes six save slots!!
one more warning when your first "super" emerald has been earned the super function for Sonic or Knuckles is no longer available.
also a multi ending game with a beaten, chaos, and super ending. super ending only obtained with sonic three and knuckles.
by itself or combined an exciting play to enjoy over and over again.

Pinacle of Sega Genesis Gaming

A great Sega Genesis title, and one of the most popular in the Sonic Fan community. This series title introduced Knuckles, the Enchidna. The game handles alot like Sonic 2, but with so much more. Old favorites like the Spin Dash and Shields return to the game, but this time, theres a twist. There are 3 different shield types, all of which give Sonic his own additional powers (Like the Bubble Shield allows you to breathe under water, the Lightning Shield magnetically attracts rings and the fire shield allows you to stand in lava and become a living fire ball! Another nice feature of this game, is that if you lock it on to Sonic and Knuckles, can experience the game in it's entirety, as well as play as Knuckles. The sprites themselves have been improved from it's predecessor, and levels are a bit longer as well.
In short, the game is simple to control, straight forward, and represents one of the best titles on the Sega Genesis, as well as in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Even when Sonic is moving at top speed, the game is not hard to control. The game also introduces a save feature, the first to be seen in a Sonic the Hedgehog game. The boss characters are imaginative and provide a great challenge. The levels steadily increase in difficulty, so the game doesn't get too hard too fast. The downside to this game is, once you've attained all the Chaos Emerald, you become Super Sonic (which can be done as early as the second zone), and the game becomes entirely to easy. Some bosses can kill themselves by running into you and you don't even need to lift a finger.
All in all, I've always been a fan of the Sonic old school series. For it's time, the game is very innovative and fun for all ages!

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Sega Genesis)

Sonic 3 is the best game out of all 3 of the Sonic games. Tails is in this one also. This one finally has a save feature which makes it possible to beat the game!!! You are also introduced to a new character, Knuckles the Echidna. This game gets a 5 out of 5!!!!
My Rating Scale:
1- This is an absolutely horrible game!!! No one should ever purchase this game no matter how tempting the game box looks.
2- This game is not horrible but needs work and has serious design flaws. Not recommended for purchase.
3- This game is your average game. The graphics aren’t anything to be shocked about and expect a bad storyline and very little replay value. Purchase at your own risk!!!
4- This is an above average game and has good replay value and graphics are above average. It still may have design flaws, but they are small and easily tolerable.
5- This is a very rare game that has beautiful graphics, absolute replay value, and usually was a big budget video game usually made by Nintendo or Sony. Players should buy this game no matter what their genre. A++++

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 - Genesis Classic ;D

When Sonic the Hedgehog 3 released in 1993, It was innovative in two noticeable ways; it was if I remember correctly, the only Sega Genesis game to have a save feature, and it had 3D Special Stages. You start off with Sonic and Tails flying to Angel Island where Knuckles the Echidna knocks out Sonic and steals back the chaos Emeralds(previously acquired in Sonic 2.) The game has 6 Zones, each containing 2 Acts. The gameplay was a simple side scroll and jump around, but it was so fun. If you are a Sonic fan, the story of the game is easy to interpret. This is a game that all Genesis owners should have as part of their collection. ;D

The Classic Hedgehog Returns

Odds are, if you're looking at an auction for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, you already know what a spectacular game it is. The masterminds of the Genesis era at Sega truly outdid themselves with the inner workings of this game. The third of four classic installments, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 brings back all the fun of its predecessors while offering a new save feature for those players who can't sit in front of their television to play this in one go.
The game itself takes that lovable hedgehog Sonic through some very elaborate and well-designed stages that incorporate more of a 3D feel in a 2D game. Doctor Robotnik is up to his old tricks again, and it's up to Sonic to save the day once more.
The best thing about this game and the Sega Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog series [Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles) in general would have to be the replay value it holds; very few games retain such timeless quality. What's even better: the final installment interacts with both 2 and 3 to create even more replay value in the form of two "bonus" games!
I decided to buy this game to replace the original which was stolen away from me long ago. Nostalgia played a large part in my purchase, but I know I won't be disappointed!
