"Outstanding"

With these days where you have to look how wise you should spend your money, there along came the Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW15 LCD Projector!
First of all, the projector's remote control is user's friendly. To me it was like operating a Sony TV control with customized settings. On the screen, The lamp is not so bright with the room lights on but, with the lights dimmed-out, the movie experience is just "amazing" for a home theater projector at this price and that's how the movie experience should be on the first place, right? It's 3 LCD chip technology makes the Sony Bravia VPL-AW15 a rainbow free Home Theater Projector. Do your own reaserch between DLP and 3 LCD projectors before you buy one. To me a 3 LCD is better as it uses no color wheel. I play movies and sit next to the projector and honestly could not hear any fan noise as is rated at 20db. This projector is a 720p not 1080p but to me is good enough since I'm not sitting in the very front of it,but at a distance of 8'ft away. Also I was looking for something on a budget that could satisfy my personal needs rather than spending a fortune in something that I will not use for so many hours it just won't make sense. My friends, Don't get confused with this pice of art, if you choose this projector and put it in a good room, with good cables and components, you will remenber me and will be very impress for what this projector can do for you. With 12,000:1 contrast ratio you get
"Very Sharp Picture Quality"
Very natural and pleasing image
Excellent color balance
Very good black levels
Very good shadow detail
Good range on zoom lens (manual)
Excellent lens shift - both vertical and horizontal, with a maximum range of 65% of screen height (up or down)
Good remote control
Excellent menus
Extremely good color management
Very quiet
Sharp image - not the sharpest, but better than average
Just remember that at this price, the Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW15 3LCD Projector becomes the Champion. I don't see myself buying another projector for many years to come!!!

Modest proce Stellar performance

I like the black level performance of this projector, it is comparable to several others in the same price range and many above. The only time i had any objectionable feelings about image quality was when a brilliantly white on screen image such as the sun or head lights from a car would be in the same scene as lets say a black suit or dark tunnel. For its age and availability on the used market this projector is a great entry level dedicated theater product. Out put image is 720p and input via Hdmi 1.3 only helps bolster that performance from source material such as BluRay. Comparable to Optoma 400 or BenQ pb6200 (minus the lack of digital input that is).

Sony VPL-AW15. Very High Quality picture.
Created: 14/02/10
This is my first projector, that I bought after months of research and reviews. It gives me very high quality picture. I have notice other projectors in functions/parties specailly after buying this one. I have not found anything better than this one.
I can see the movies with during day time, they are fine. However, when dark scene comes, its not clearly visible. But I should not say negative, because during night also same dark scenes I notice is not very clearly visible. If room is totally dark during day, that will be better. So I am planning to install replace plastic blinds with wooden blinds.
Overall you will never find anything better than this as of now. Also see the price. Its very low with high contrast 12000. Similar configuration with 1080p will cost more than $3000 for no better picture than this. I would advice to go for this one for another two years, as projectors are still in growing stage and models are production stop after every 12-18 months and new models are coming. You can use this one with no compromises at all.
Hope this review helps.
Thanks

Love the high contrast and bright colors. Almost like being at a movie theater but in your own home. Projector was easy to set up and user friendly. Love it so far.
