Great outdoor & macro photos, Terrible indoors w/flash
Created: 07/11/06
This digital camera takes superior pictures outdoors and has an extraordinary macro feature for extreme close ups. I have had my camera for 3 years and have never seen a digital camera take such beautiful pictures outdoors as this camera does. Indoor pictures with a flash are very poor quality. I am disappointed in the quality of flash pictures indoors. They are double imaged, dark and blurry and the detail is not there. It is not a camera for indoor pictures even with a tripod to steady the camera. Comes with a detailed manual and some sections are difficult to understand. The camera has many features and does play an audio/video clip for 15 seconds. The rechargeable batteries do not last long; however, you do have the option of using AA alkaline batteries if your rechargeable ones run down. It will use up akaline batteries even faster so have several on hand. The screen to view photos is quite small, but clear. The display will always show that your picture is crystal clear and properly exposed, but it is misleading when you print them, your pictures will show the real exposure usually bad with indoor flash photos. It is easier to upload your pictures through a printer that takes the Sony memory stick. Many printers have slots for almost all memory sticks/cards. This is much faster than downloading directly to the computer. I would look at a camera with image stabilization before getting this camera. If all you are going to take is outdoor pictures, then this is the camera for you, if not, do not waist your money.

Sony cybershot DSC P92 5.0 Megapixel Digital Camera

When the camera first came out it was top of the line! But I used it for a while and now it runs threw batteries like crazy! It does not take very good up close pictures. If you need a camera for ebay to take great pictures, I WOULD NOT ADVISE THIS CAMERA! It is terrible and not worth what I paid for it brand new! It is big and heavy compared to the newer cameras that have been on the market. It doesnt zoom in very good either. Sony has many other cameras out there that are worth it. This one is not!

Bad Camera: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P92 5.0 Megapixel

I bought this camera after doing some lengthy research on digital cameras. I don't mind telling you that it takes a great picture in bright sunlight while your picture subject remains still.
It is absolutely aweful for the following reasons:
1) If the subject (like a 3 year old child) moves around, like kids will do, the picture will usually turn out blurry.
2) If you move your hand even slightly, while taking a picture, the picture will most likely be blurry, unless it is well lit.
3) If the camera breaks (like both of mine did) you will have to pay more than the value of the camera to get it fixed.
4) The protective lens shutter tends to get stuck open on this model camera. Having had two, I know this is not my fault. I was very careful with it.
5) Don't think that you can keep this camera in your pocket while you run about - whipping it out for a quick picture. It is not sturdy at all - and most likely, if you keep it in your pocket, it the lens will start to get stuck because of pocket lint etc. Even if you keep it in the protective case they give you - it will get too dusty to work well.
6) Support for this camera is terrible. The warranty doesn't last long enough to cover damage to the camera due to wear and tear. And, as I stated above, you might as well buy a new one if it ever has a problem.
Almost every great memory you will want to capture using this camera will turn out blurry. Don't EVER buy this camera, unless you like throwing away your memories. I have started taking pictures using my Treo 600 camera phone because the Sony is such an absolute mistake. Please don't waste your time buying a Sony camera. I believe that Sony just doesn't have the capability, yet, to build an inexpensive digital camera that works well in poor lighting and in sports environments.

I bouht my P92 new a couple of years ago. I am still learning new tricks. There is a comprehensive manual included that gives all kinds of ideas. Everything from lighting to the visual effects offered on this camera. I like that you can insert a memory stick (or compatible) that will hold thousands of pictures. This camera also has a video mode with several formats. Pictures can be taken in a variety of image resolutions for all your photographic needs. The 5mp resolution is great for printing larger 8x10 pictures, or just use the VGA resolution for email and online posting.
This camera has a built in flash. I have rarely used the flash as this camera is awesome at using all available light. The couple of times I have used the flash, I tended to overexpose.
This camera came with a USB cable to download directly to your computer. The download process is a little slow. I find it much quicker to remove the memory stick and download that into my computer... 100's of times faster than downloading the camera. The slow camera download is typical of most all digital cameras though. An A/V cable was also included. This attaches to your TV's input jacks and you can then see on your tv whatever is showing on the camera's screen.
Speaking of the camera's screen. It is a little small, so I really like the ability to plug this baby into my TV. A much larger picture. I am a coin collector and have many coin images online. This camera does a wonderful job.
I was able to purchase online an A/C power adaptor as well as an awesome little macro zoom lense for taking closeup shots of my coins. They were both third party brand/generic items, but they work great with this camera.
As this camera model has been out for a couple of years now, it would appear that you can buy these online for an excellent price. I paid $329 for my camera, new, at Wally-World (you know... that big super-store), so I am tempted to purchase another at todays going prices, just for a backup. I am very pleased with the performance of this gem.

High quality pictures, easy to use, records Mpeg, Image Mixer is a great software to edit and create movies, if you run out of battery the camera will work with any AA battery that you can find everywhere, nice zoom, Video output, so you can see your pictures and movie on the TV.
