Used VCR can be usedful
Created: 16/09/09
I still use VHS and VCR to tape my shows. As long as I get the basic TV channels feed directly from the cable line to the VCR, I am happy to use them. I hate ads and been taping my shows for years and view them at a later date is something I do. With almost all VHS gone or in Combo DVD/VHS only to be found in stores. Companies are making the VHS format gone. I seen one Phillips model without a tuner (this is a dud where you could one direct record through a cable box and one channel only. I have this Sony SLV-N750 VHS machine already and another older Sony VHS that I just got repair after 15 years of used. It good to have a repair shop that still repairing the old machines Staton TV In Westcheste County NY does a great job. I ran through alot of VCR machines in my days and had set of if 8 running sometimes. I have found the Sony machines standing up to wear and tore of constant used. This machine is idea and I just purchased another same machin on eBay. With my three Sony VCR. I be recording till the cable company yanks all the channels off the VCR and need a cable box to record your shows. Don't overlook old models of Sony VCR like this one. That why I will get one more for backup and keeping my eye out for them. Especially this model.

This vcr works great. Sony has always made good vcrs and dvd player/recorders and this is no exception. I have used many vcrs over the years and Sonys are always my favorites because they last the longest under hard use, and provide exceptional picture and quality. I highly recommend this vcr and other Sony electronics. With a Sony you can't go wrong.

Older is better

I bought this VCR with full knowledge that it was broken. I bought it because I have accumulated over 1000 videos over the years and want a quality VCR to see them. I intentionally bought an older Sony because it has the highest quality and best features. This one is broken, but that's OK - I will have a better VCR than is available from retailers when I get it back from the repair shop. With the older VCR's you can record in LP mode - not so with the new ones - I want to continue to record in LP mode because that way I can record about 2 movies per tape and still have a fairly good picture. I have DVD's too - but I don't like them - one scratch and you can toss the whole DVD. With the old tapes, you just cut, splice or move beyond the damage. Also, a DVD can only hold 1 movie - if that!!! I am not impressed with modern technology - I will stay with the old stuff as long as I can. - JAB

Sony SLV N750 VCR

I watch/own lots of old VCR tapes so I wanted to buy an extra VCR before it disappears from the market since the manufacturers don't make the VCRs anymore.
This Sony VCR model should be a great one, but it didn't perform as what I expected - maybe it was damaged during the shipping? Although the stereo sound was great, it produced loud noise while the VCR tapes were played - returned.

I bought this VCR because my old one had a noisy tuner. VCRs are only made as dual units (VCR/DVD) now, which is fine but causes the Remote to be excessively complex and difficult to remember. Ebay has a number of VCR's and I selected one similar to one I already owned so that the Remote might work for both (it did!). The unit purchased works fine, better than most, and I'm glad to have it even though it will soon be mostly obsolete due to the government intervention in the spectrum.
