A glance at the track list, which includes soul classics by Sam Cooke, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, and Otis Redding, confirms the supposition. Seal has been settling more comfortably into his role as an adult contemporary singer, and SOUL, on which the British vocalist interprets 12 American R&B gems in elegant fashion, finds him fully inhabiting the niche once and for all..Seal may yet join the mainstream ranks of Rod Stewart and Michael Buble with his sophisticated covers and accessible sound, but his singing on SOUL is still full of the passion and intensity that characterize his earlier material. His take on Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" is a case in point, as is his heartfelt reading of Mayfield's "People Get Ready." Veteran producer David Foster gives the album a sleek yet natural feel, further heightening the compelling nature of Seal's performances.

Editorial Reviews
As always, Seal sounds great; age has relaxed his singing, and that lends the material an appropriately lived-in vibe. -- Grade: B-

Great CD-but......just too short in length!!

Created: 27/12/08
In this Soul/Motown covers CD seal is at his peak, and the arrangements are all top-notch. Produced by David Foster, it contains 12 tracks..only 44:30 in length. For a contemporary CD, IMO that is far too short. The tracks are all great, Knock ON Wood, A Changee is Gonna Come, It's a Man's World, Stand by Me, etc. However, what's not included..is just as important as what is on the CD. Missing are-When a Man Loves a Woman-Percy Sledge, Soul Man/Hold On I'm Comin'-Sam and Dave, Rainy Night in Georgia-Brook Benton, Sittin' on the Dock of The Bay-Otis Redding.
In other words, that is "Soul Music" to me-at least 3 more tracks S/H been included here-if you can get a "deal" on it, pick it up.

Soul by Seal (cd, Nov. 2008)

Wow this a great cd. Seal is singing at his best. I especially love his versions of A Change Is Gonna Come, People Get Ready and It's Alright (I never thought I would like any other version of A Change Is Gonna Come other then the great Sam Cooke, but Seal nailed this song.) The whole cd is wonderful, Seal did a great job on some classic songs. Highly recommended.

Seal- The new soul man

Created: 11/04/10
This is one great cd- The most outstanding track on the cd is the rendition of Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come"- If the rest of the cd sucked, this selection alone would be worth the price- Fortunately, every cut on the entire disc is at least very good- This cd represents everything that I thought Seal would be when I first heard him a decade ago- With so many cover cds available, I didn't think I would ever say that I would like to see a second collection- The song selection is superb as is the performance by Seal- This cd is well worth the price of the purchase- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- Beach

I absolutely loved the CD I purchased it for Seal's rendition of Sam Cook's song, Change Gonna Come, however most of the material although not of my genre were familiar to me besides the fact if you have an appreciation for Seal's stylistic vocals then you will have an appreciation for the selection of songs and how excetionally well the artist made the song his own.

I love soul! Excellent artist! Excellent cd! I have a couple other of Seal's
releases and have always enjoyed his work. I find it very peaceful and stress-
easing to listen to this cd.
