    Movie synopsis

The story of three young men who defined the "Beat Generation" in the mid '40s through poetry and prose. Jack Kerouac (Depp), Allen Ginsburg (Turturro), and William S. Burroughs (Hopper) are the subject of this insightful documentary by Chuck Workman (SUPERSTAR: The Life And Times Of Andy Warhol) who utilizes interview footage, feature film and television clips, performances of fellow beat artists, and dramatized readings to further examine the story of these cultural icons.

    More like a documentary.

    Created: 21/03/08
Being a huge fan of the beat generation basically any movie on this topic intersts me. With an rarely seen allstar cast this movie presents itself more like a documentary with much live footage for the actual era. It may be a big hit for those intersted in this Generation, but for those that are looking for mind boggling performances, you maybe disappointed with this film. Keep in mind that it is in a documentary format for the most part.

remarkable story of american history being made

    Created: 07/09/06
This movie was very interesting, altho not really a movie but a documentary. I was born a bit late to be in the beat generation, I was just a child, but it showed me the meanings to alot of the things that went on. That there definately was a method, if not a preplanned one, to their combined madness.... or is it brilliance, sometimes its a fine line. I would of thought there might be a bit more about Charles B. as he was a sidelines player in this all too. And since he lived in my town, it would of been great. I loved the readings of works by Dennis Hopper and Johnny Depp, two of my favorite, and I think their being the key players on this dvd made it alot better than another group of actors could have
