I decided to ask for this book for my birthday because I had heard the author on TV, and because I study the Bible for teaching and writing purposes, as well as my own spiritual deepening. I thought it would be illuminating to know the meanings of the Greek words, and I was impressed by Rick Renner's pastor-heart. Having used the book for a couple of months, I can say that it is worth every cent paid for it. These devotionals are written in an easy, conversational manner that anybody can understand, and starting every day this way, in God's Word, is the most strengthening exercise I can recommend.
I have enjoyed the stories from history, from which the Greek word meanings were derived, the written "Prayer for Today", "My Confession for Today" and the questions at the end of each reading. Renner's teaching is practical and encouraging.
The only down-side is that it is a large, heavy book, and not easy to travel with. But I have done so, it meant that much to have it with me.
Like the picture of sparkling gems on the cover, this book delivers the goods from the greatest of all Gems, the Word of God!

"Sparkling Gems from the Greek", by Rick Renner, is a daily devotional that is inspiring and indepth. I enjoy how Rick Renner breaks downs words into their greek meaning to give the scripture passage a deeper meaning and a deeper perception then I had before. Each day's devotional is short enough to fit into anyones busy schedule. I have found that the questions at the end of each devotional help add lively discussion to our family's devotion time. This book has been a great addition to our families library and I recommend it to anyone interested in studying the deeper meaning of God's word in the Bible.

A devotional written by a man who has a deep knowledge of Greek and who knows God intimately, and his book reveals this. The book is divided into 365 daily readings, each one being just the right length, not too short (which most are) and not too long. Each day's reading begins with a topic and appropriate scripture from the New Testament, which was originally written in Greek. The author goes into great detail as he expands the meaning of the Greek words used in the scriptures, and also includes personal anecdotes (which are so interesting) and lots of encouragement for the reader (which we all need). At the very end of the day's reading are three questions to the reader to help him go deeper into the day's subject. The reader definitely comes away from the reading with a much deeper understanding of God's Word and how to apply it to his life. It's a wonderful book for not only personal use, but also would be a great gift. I highly recommend it!!!

We purchased these devotionals to share with two other couples. WE LOVE IT!!! My husband and I read it together each day and have for over 5 years now. It really opens up the Bible by interpreting the New Testament in the Greek. It also lets you see the Bible in a Deeper but Practical manner and how to apply it to your life today. We would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who wants to expounds their understanding of the Bible. Also, if Rick Renner comes to a town near you don't miss him, he is an Outstanding Teacher.

Daily gives you the total package. Helps to guide you through a complete daily devotion, and understanding God's word. Terrific for teaching the steps to an intimate uderstanding and relatonship with God. After 365 days of "GEMS" you are prepared to go into God's word to mine for your own "GEMS". This book is an exceptional tool for all levels and faiths. Highly recommend this Rick Renner book to all.
