Game Special Features
  • Code Input Cards: Included in each Spectrobes game is a pack of four translucent lenticular code input cards, perfect for collecting and trading. Once players unlock the special ability in the game, they can fit a code input card over the Nintendo DS touch screen and use the stylus to consecutively tap numerical holes in the cards, unlocking new content, which includes creatures and minerals. Along with inclusion in game packages, additional trading cards will be available through various promotions

  • Wireless Modes and Tournaments:Once awakened and trained, Spectrobes are powerful creatures that can be used by Rallen to not only battle against the Krawl, but also take on other players and their creatures locally via wireless gameplay. Players can trade content with others, enter a one-on-one battle with a friend, or participate in an organized tournament. Tournaments include 3 to 16 players with one player serving as the "matchmaker." The "matchmaker" determines how many rounds of battle will be required, pairs combatants, and determines final rankings based on reviewing each participant's results

  • Downloadable Content and Online Community: Players can also earn the ability to download content such as creatures, custom parts, minerals, and videos through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. By logging on each week, players will obtain and accrue points that can be traded in for content. Also, once connected to the Internet, the Nintendo DS will generate a personal Planetary Patrol badge number that can be synchronized to each player's profile page on the Spectrobes web site. Once connected to their game results, players' profiles will include information about their Spectrobes creatures, armor, and weapons. In addition, a leaderboard on the web site will track the top scores from several special sequence battles in the game, allowing players to show their success to a global audience. Players can also view their friends' profiles by accessing their created names. By completing specific accomplishments in the game, players can also earn "badges" to showcase on their online profile.

Disney's Monster Training Game Good, Nothing Special

    Created: 03/01/08
Truth be told; Disney Interactive doesn't have the best track record when it comes to producing quality games. Teaming up with Jupiter has been successful in bucking the trend - Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (GBA) was surprisingly good - but the real question is can DI launch a lasting property? I still don't know the answer, but I was willing to give Spectrobes the chance.
Spectobes is not Pokemon, and it's not Monster Rancher; though it bears similarity to both. Consciously or not, it tries to distance itself from both other series as much as possible; most notably with the real-time, 3-D battle sequences, almost reminiscent of Final Fantasy XII.
This game is not for everyone, although it seems to be aimed toward the older end (13-15+) of the Disney demographic. Maybe it was the story, maybe it was the dialog, but for some reason Spectrobes just couldn't capture my interest for any length of time. On a 10 scale, maybe a 6.5.

    Spectrobes for N-DS

I bought this game for my kids but tried it out to make sure it worked and now I'm addicted! I'm determined to figure out how and what all of these fossils evolve into. Searching for them is redundant but still somehow addictive. This is a game that completely takes my mind off of the pressures of bills, housework, etc... That's one thing that I love about it! Great game for kids and adults. It's a little like Pokemon in the sense that you have something you have to find, take care of, it evolves and defends you. You do have battles with other evolved fossils. All this takes place in space which is a new twist and one other thing that separates it from Pokemon, they're similar but very different too!

This game has gotten a lot of publicity considering its a Disney game, but don't fall for the hype: this game definitely has its ups and downs. To save you have to return to your hame base, which is a real drag. Overall I say its a good game, if you want to put real time into it.

One of the most exciting games--my 8 yo son loves it!

    Created: 13/10/09
I wasn't sure about getting this but my son was so set on this exact game because a friend of his had it already. After he played it, he was so hooked. I tried my hand at unearthing some fossils but my son is much better at it. I'll let him have the fun with this game because I'd rather play something on Wii. Overall, my son is playing this game as much as all the others (such as Lego Indiana Jones & Pokemon Platinum).

This was a great buy financially, and morally! My son made a new friend at summer camp and the little boy loved playing this game. My son asked how can we get him one, he is being adopted by a new family and I want him to have something special! Thank you to the family that sold this game and also thank you for mailing it quickly, you made a little boy very happy! :)
