Alright Game, Great Soundtrack! Nostalgiafest!

Created: 05/07/06
So/So graphics, so/so gameplay, Great music! Steeped in the 70's perhaps, but the audio tracks are much longer than most of it's time, and considering the limitations of the hardware, especially considering it was only a 2nd generation title, they did a very good job of making the instruments sound authentic. It is interesting to note though that the character sprite for Wolverine is basically the same one as in the 1991 NES release, Wolverine only upgraded to 16-bit. The stance is the same, the movement is basically the same minus a couple extra frames of animation in the SNES rendition (also, Wolvie has a few new moves in the SNES one) I wonder if the guy who did the music for Spiderman/Xmen also did the music for Wolverine. Also somewhat 70's also very good. And then there's the totally broken extra lives cheat in gambit's first level. Even aside from the music, this game is a game not without merits. The controls, while fairly limited are very comfortable and totally responsive. And some of the level ideas are pretty clever. Wolverine and Gambit's especially. No, this doesn't go on the greatest games ever list, but I am very glad I have it. I should also mention that this game is filled to the brim with sentimental value for me...we got the SNES christmas of 92, it came with Mario World, the folks added Zelda, and then took us out to pick out a game...Spiderman/Xmen was the one. Perhaps the nostalgia makes my review more favorable that it otherwise would be, but I just feel nothing but warmth for this game.

Too hard

Created: 27/08/06
This game was the most difficult game i've ever played. There are 2 different levels for each super hero and Wolverine's 2nd level is impossible. That's right..I mastered all the others including his but it is impossible to beat. Why? Because Juggernaut, who chases you throughout this level is invincible. I've played the level out perfectly 2 twice and wasn't able to kill him thus me getting the hint to quit.

This game gets a 2 for the awesome music (one of my favorite game soundtracks of all time) and because despite the poor control, level design, plot design, and enemy design, it was fun playing...its just something about controlling an X-men or Spiderman in even a lackluster adventure. I also like a good hair raising pressure challenge...running Gambit away from the doom ball was my favorite level in a game of all time.

Other than that..its a mediocre game at best.

I played this game before and I like it.The soundtrack is great,it really get you going in the game. The one character I like to play is Wolverine,His attacks are really cool to watch. The only thing that keeps this game from geting a better rating it is really really hard.If your a fan of comic books or you just want to add some games in your collection.this is a really fun and challenging game that will get you to play this game until you beat it.

Wonderful game for Special needs child

Created: 15/09/09
This game & the Batman game I purchased are excellent games for a Special Needs Child. It teaches Independant thinking skills, and is a lot of fun. Also these games are difficult to find in my area. These older games are very strong for the not-so-gentle 9 year old child. Thank you.
