Album NotesLiner Note Authors: Richard Noblett; Mark Ainley.SPRIGS OF TIME is a fantastic and almost unfathomably eclectic compilation of vintage music from around the globe, originally recorded for the venerable English label EMI and now reissued by the musical tastemakers at Honest Jon's. This is the third album in Honest Jon's series of discs documenting the contents of the colossal Hayes archive, a sprawling library of over 150,000 vintage 78rpm discs. Where previous titles have focused on the musical output of a single region, SPRIGS OF TIME takes listeners on a dizzying voyage around the world and features recordings from locations as varied as Indonesia, Trinidad, Bulgaria, New York, and Piccadilly.
Editorial Reviews4 stars out of 5 -- [A] treasure trove of musical snapshots....Some are exotic, such as 'Ya Honaina' by the great Lebanese singer Fairuz...[and] some are beautiful, such as the Japanese Imperial Palace Band's 'Seigaiha'...Mojo [C]uts such as 'Seigaiha' by Japan's Imperial Palace Band, recorded in 1903, possess an ethereal beauty and evoke such a sense of otherness and distance, both in place and time, that they're mind-bogglingly sublime.Dirty Linen eBay Product ID: EPID70898279
