Product Information
EA takes its snowboarding series to higher ground -- this time, to the tippy-top slopes of three fully-modeled mountains for players to explore and shred. It's a revolution inspired by free-roam success of Rockstar's GTA franchise, but EA has made the idea all its own by filling each mountain with miles of terrain to explored and a variety of challenges, course races, stunts and rival encounters to compete against. New to the series beyond the open course structure is the boardpress move (much like the "manual" in other extreme sports games) for stringing combos together across flatlands, extreme weather affects that affect rider physics and can even bring an avalanche down on players, 3-level Uber tricks, handplant tricks, and improvements in character customization.

The Best Snowboarding Video Game Ever!

Created: 11/06/10
I love "SSX 3" because of what it gives you:
+beautiful & huge enviornments, 3 peaks to conquer, almost a 'sandbox' style of gameplay.
+10 unique & customizable characters you can unlock outfits & boards for.
+decent & massive customization choices.
+a lot of tricks, some really mind blowing ones & some new ones to boot.
+arcade style gameplay, which is much better vs. simulation.
+a ton a unlockables.
+a lot more!
I like the fact that you can go from event to event & play in linear way & when you want to you can also do a free-ride through courses too, collecting money & conquering Big Challenges. There isn't just one way to skin this cat, there's layers to this game's layers; look for weeks worth of game play.
SSX3 is very well put together & is probably the best game to grace the X Box, PS2 & Gamecube.

Incredible game, loved it back in the day when I had it on PS2 and still love it today. Word of warning, to play classic Xbox Games on the Xbox 360 you need an xbox harddrive. The official one, not just any harddrive. This game plays flawlessly on my device after I got one.

This game is a sports rpg of sorts. You race/do freestyle events to earn money. You spend the money on raising attributes and cosmetic upgrades for your chosen boarder. I personally like Kaori and Elise, a couple of veterans of the game canon.

By upping attributes, you are able to place higher in races and earn more money for -you guessed it- more attributes/cosmetic items. you can also unlock new music and characters to board with down the peaks.

The level design is great; you race down a mountain with 3 peaks, easy, intermediate and advanced. the Skill level required and difficulty raises with each peak.

SSX 3 (Xbox, 2003)

The best SSX of the series. this edition of the series refines all the aspects that were fun in SSX and SSX Tricky while adding gameplay and customization elements and collectibles for even the most avid gamer to appreciate.

The Xbox version is the definitive version due to the slight bump in graphics and console backwards compatibility.

It's still amazing to think that this game was released in 2004. It still holds up as an amazing Snowboarding game to this day in 2011.

Picking it up to relive my SSX 3 memories in anticipation for the new +SSX that is slated to be released in January 2012.

This is the first time I tried a snowboard game and it's great! Once you start understanding how the controls work you realize you can do SO MANY different tricks. I bought this because it was rated really high on Gamespot.com....google: ssx3 xbox gamespot

Great Snowboarding Game

Created: 05/02/08
People complain that this is not realistic and not like snowboarding at all. I'm assuming they're talking about the physics of the game, etc. Well that doesn't bother me at all, if it was more like 'real' snowboarding I would suck at it!

So people who snowboard in real life might not like this game--there's another snowboarding name, forget what it's called, but it's better for people who want more realistic controls etc.

4/5 Rating for this game.
