Product description

Product Information
The first original sports title for the PS2 from Electronic Arts Canada, SSX combines high-speed snowboard racing with insane big air tricks on what is best described as an exaggerated snow-covered motocross track. Three different gameplay modes and seven different courses stretch the barriers of reality as eight international racers strap onto their boards and go zooming and tricking down the mountain. Up to two players can compete in contact racing with tight split-screen craziness, and the game's soundtrack led by Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys and Rahzel of the Roots matches the fast-paced action of SSX quite loudly.

A fun & affordable game for everybody over 4 years old.

This game is really good for the money. More than 8 years after its launch I am still having fun playing it.
I used to play the 'Cool Boarders' series on the PSone and when I got my PS2, I didn't play snowboard games for a while, until I bought this one (for under $5.00. I am not by any mean a snowboard champion or even a good beginner, but I love to have fun going down the mountain and that's exactly what you do with SSX. It is one of the only 'racing' games that I play with my kids (we also play MX2002 and Tony Hawk underground together) and they love it. I can hear them laugh when they play together. It's a good game in the sense that it's easy to handle, set-up and learn the basic tricks.
You start with 2 tracks and about 4 characters who can choose between 2 set of gear/clothing, and 2 board designs.
You are now ready to race and when you win, you unlock tracks, gear and characters, and also your skills improve, your character becomes better and better. A very simple script but it always work.
The Graphics are very good for the time and handling is easy and (almost) natural, although I prefered doing tricks on Cool Boarders.
One original feature is that you can 'push' away other racers when they get too close.
There is also a 'free riding' mode that allows you to learn the tracks and practice.
Overall a great game for the money recommended for anyone over 4 years old.

SSX is a great game for single or multiplayer. The vast amount of tricks to choose from make the game interesting. Also the better and more tricks you do kind of give you a turbo which is very useful since you are racing. It is a very fun game one of the best ones for PS2

Be aware of what you buy!

Nostalgia is something one shouldn't do when trying to buy anything. I was looking for an SSX game that had DTS within and thought wrongly that the first one had it. The series was weird too since it didn't go 1, 2, 3~ in count and I bought the third one at a brick & Mortar store to discover that the 3rd game was horrible! SSX (2!) Tricky was what I really should of bought!

I got SSX from this individual quickly and if I do find something else off this person, I'd buy it on a heartbeat!

SSX Review

I'm ten and my dad bought this for me, and this is what I think of SSX. I like about ssx, is on the second track, near the bottom, is a set of loops! The character Hiro, is just awesome! He's my favorite! I love the title screen. What I don't like about it is that you can't do ubertricks yet. Try the Untracked course. Its awesome!!!

The greatest first title for the greatest snowboarding franchise.

 | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

The SSX franchise has had it's ups and downs, but this first game in the six-game franchise is a spot-on beginning. SSX is unlike any snowboarding game before it's time, and even today still stacks up to snowboarding games on the new platforms. If you really love snowboarding, buy this game!
