Album Notes
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Flea , John Frusciante, Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith .Personnel: Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (guitar); Richard Dodd (cello); Brad Warnaar (French horn); Michael Bolger (trombone); Billy Preston (tambourine); Paulinho DeCosta, Lenny Castro (percussion).Audio Mixers: Andrew Scheps; Ryan Hewitt.Recording information: Akademie Mathematique Of Philosophical Research; Little Kicker Sound; The Center For The Cultivation Of The Invisible; The Mansion Of Laurel Canyon.Photographers: Michael Muller; Gus Van Sant.An ambitious double album, STADIUM ARCADIUM finds the Red Hot Chili Peppers building on their more mature, latter-day approach, while also acknowledging their lighthearted, youthful sound. The Los Angeles-based funk-rock quartet's third studio outing since John Frusciante returned to the fold, this 2006 release once again reinforces how crucial the guitarist is to the Peppers' aesthetic, with his mix of swirling, psychedelic leads and heavy riffs providing the perfect foil to Flea's bold bass heroics. (Instrumentally, the record also benefits from guest appearances by Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodriguez, percussionists Paulinho Da Costa and Lenny Castro, and the legendary Billy Preston on clavinet.)Remarkably consistent for a two-disc, 28-song offering, STADIUM ARCADIUM kicks off with "Dani California," an energetic track that hints at a Beatles influence, while showcasing vocalist Anthony Kiedis's neo-rap delivery and the tight rhythmic interplay of Flea and drummer Chad Smith. Other highlights of this collection include the emotive "Wet Sand" and the frenetic "Torture Me," which provide nice counterpoints to loose, limber tunes such as the funk workouts "Hump De Bump" and "C'mon Girl." In many ways a culmination of the Chili Peppers' decades-spanning musical evolution, STADIUM ARCADIUM stands as one of the group's most impressive efforts.

Editorial Reviews
4 stars out of 5 -- It's the sound of a band on a roll....The unbridled creativity here is a cause for celebration.
Mojo

5 stars out of 5 -- [Frusciante] has brought a sense of experimentation to a band not renowned for dabbling with the unorthodox. It's testament to his new-found vocabulary that no two songs sound the same.
Q

There are hidden depths here, melodies that become more insistent and subtleties that reveal themselves from where they sit modestly beneath the surface.
Kerrang

Ranked #4 in Q Magazine's 100 Greatest Albums of 2006 -- [With] funk-rock rhythms, Californian harmonies and bittersweet themes.
Q

John Frusciante lays down his sledgehammer riffs, Kiedis begins to actually sing the elegiac chorus, the golden harmonies of the bridge kick in, and by the end, you're blindsided by how great it all sounds. -- Grade: B+
Entertainment Weekly

Ranked #2 in Rolling Stone's The Top 50 Albums Of 2006 -- [A] confessional and creative triumph.

4 stars out of 5 -- [Flea] finally cuts loose again here, reasserting himself as the best non-hip-hop reason to buy a subwoofer.

Mellow is Good.

Created: 10/01/08
Here's the lowdown: Stadium Arcadium was supposed to be a trilogy (released 6mos apart from each other). But the band decided to condense it into one album so fans could listen to all the songs. So from 35 it became 28.

Okay. They mellowed down. It's not as heavy as BloodSugarSexMagik. But it's still great. There's no new sound or new gimmick. It's purely Red Hot vibe. Ya know, a lot of rap, funk, a lil metal, some pop and rock o'course. It's more By the Way-ish and Californication-sh than BSSM-ish. It's like a mixture of the previous albums. It makes you feel like you've heard the songs somewhere (but not in a cueshit-rip-off way) already.

Watch out (as you should always do) for Flea's funky minimalist melodies, John's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G progressions (thank God for his talent), Chad's bouncy beats, and the uniquely lovely voice of Anthony. Add good lyrics (while some are incoherent) and catchy hooks.

And there's 28 of them! Almost all songs are good. (some sound the same as the previous songs).

Key Tracks:
TELL ME BABY
HARD TO CONCENTRATE
HUMP DE BUMP
STORM IN A TEACUP
MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER
DANI CALIFORNIA
CHARLIE
SHE'S ONLY 18

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS Stadium Arcadium

Created: 14/05/06
I like this CD set a lot!!!! It has two discs. The first CD, Jupiter includes the songs "Dani California," "Stadium Arcadium," and "Hump de Bump" which are some of my favorites. Jupiter represents more of a upbeat side. I actually like this CD a little better than the other one. The second CD, Mars, includes "Readymade," "Descretion Smile" and "Storm in a Teacup." It has kind of a moody feel to it. Singer Anthony Kiedis said that the album represents our relationship to the cosmos. I love this album. The song "Snow" has some really cool guitar solos. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are amazing!!!! If you liked Californication, then you will like this album. I like this album because it offers variety and shows the band at their best. I would recommend this album.

Stadium Arcadium [Digipak] - Red Hot Chili Peppers CD

Created: 08/01/08
I bought the Stadium Arcadium [Digipak] - Red Hot Chili Peppers CD for my 11 year Grandson for Christmas this year. All I heard about was how he wanted a RED HOT CHILI PEPPER CD!
I did not even know who they were and could not find it in the stores so I went looking on EBay. Of course someone had it.
It was a Great Deal. Brand New Double CD. Never Opened and a great price. I felt my Grandson would love it since it came with both CD's.
Of course he was thrilled! I was the GREATEST GRAMMA!
He says it is so cool, has all the songs he wanted etc,. I will never regret this purchase and am glad I chose to give it a try!
I later found out that this same CD would have cost much more. So in comparison to other online shops or malls.. there is no comparison!

New old style

Created: 17/08/06
This is unlike any other Red Hot Chili Pepper album thus far. The hit song 'Dani California' has the style that a chili pepper fan will recognize. However songs like 'Tell me Baby' and 'She looks to me' are quite different from previously released songs. It's more mild than the usual material. Personally I found it a relief to hear something so different from their usual style. It just proves that a band does not have to use the same type of style for their music. Great music from a great band. It's a great album to have in any music library. And a must for any Chili Pepper fan.

Thank you, and enjoy.
